I agree partially, but there's been plenty of savy moves along the way.

I tried to add that but it wouldn't let me edit.

Obviously they knew when to sell certain guys (Jeff Smadjdasa and similar vets), traded for some good young players (Rizzo), and made the appropriate FA signings. Had to scout and draft well too.

But it still just pisses me off. Especially watching the Cards not having to go that route.

Would be nice if Theo took one of his not so savvy moves (the Crawford contract) off the Dodgers' hands.

The Puig deal was actually shit on pretty hard as well as both Guerrero & Arru. The feeling was that Guerrero handled SS in Cuba, but his range was limited, so a move to 2B would be easy. He admitted to never being able to read the ball off the bat from the right side. I think the ear thing totally fucked up his career. He was crushing the ball in AAA and when he came back, he was never the same player. There were rumors that his hand-eye coordination definitely took a hit from the incident. So who knows what will ever happen.
Arru was the big one where everyone said "WHA!?!" I think the feeling at the time was that the Dodgers were building an offensive juggernaut and having an all world glove at SS would be more valuable than a guy that could hit a ton. His bat turned out worse than anyone expected and that was only matched by what appears to be one hell of a shitty attitude. It's hard to get a read on players personalities when they were hidden behind a curtain their whole career. Guessing this is a big reason why the team seems to have backed of from Lazarito.

Puig and the elder Cubans fall into the same category as the AGon/Hanley trades IMO, looking for immediate MLB-level talent/results.
Puig was 21 and not too far away, felt he was ready enough in an emergency call up situation.
Diaz, Alvarez, and Esteves are way young in comparison to those signings.
Literally kids, impressionable, which probably fits in there somewhere in regards to scouts loving them so much..they probably aren't carrying themselves like entitled assholes.
Remember one of the 1st things Puig did @ Chattanooga was get arrested.
Unlike with guys like Puig, Guerrero, Arrubadooba, LAD will have a chance to raise and somewhat shape the 18-19 year olds, let's hope that makes the difference.

I wonder if the narrative will still be "The Dodgers, with their financial might are in the mix" with all the big FA's going forward?

I will be the guy SMH watching the prizes go elsewhere, just like old times.

Cubans are bad news im tellin yall.
Undisciplined wild lackadaisical amd rarely work enough to improve past their natural gifts.
Thats the stereotype. Its racist but its also true of a lot of em.
    Island people are like that.
They have more fun and play baseball instead of baseball being their job.
And they go crazy with their cash.
But they are happy while they riding the wave.

More than enough success stories in MLB regarding island people to generalize them as bad news.
Including the guy who was being honored just yesterday

Yall been shitting on the cubans we got. Im not giving you my opinion. Im giving you your opinion without the bullshit.
A lot of you dont like the latin players that are like that.
I painted the picture you guys hint at with your comments.
Before you call me racist remember you also call me a lover of these players.
I was just told that i defend puig vehemently because i dont shit on him at every turn.
Racists call others racist for saying shit that isnt politically corrct.
A racist will shit on a bunch of cubans of a certain color or type but be careful not to sound politically incorrect.
A non racist will defend those players and point out how they get way more and harsher criticism compared to others but not care about offending racially confused white knights.

There is absolutely no way that you or anyone here can legitimately say that a Yadier Alvarez is bad news.
Whatever you were trying to prove, or whatever these other people say about Cubans in general..just no.
