Now it comes down that LAL brass thought Lonzo looked out of shape at his work out. Magic has been up in arms about conditioning this off-season, so this would qualify as a pretty good smokescreen if that´s the angle.
NBA Draft Rumors: Josh Jackson has ‘likely’ been promised that the Lakers will draft him According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 (a Phoenix-based radio station), Kansas forward Josh Jackson “has been promised” and that said promise “likely” came from the Lakers, although Gambadoro himself notes it’s possible it came from the Philadelphia 76ers. In draft parlance, a “promise” means that a team tells a player and his agent that they’ll select him in their draft slot if he’s available, so connecting the dots with the context of Gambadoro’s connections with the Suns, this likely means that’s why Phoenix thinks this is why Jackson hasn’t worked out for them. Does this mean the Lakers are for sure drafting Josh Jackson? Absolutely not. A lot of this stuff around draft time is theory-based, and it’s likely that this information or idea is coming from the Suns or someone around the Suns in this case. That person (or persons) don’t necessarily have knowledge on the Lakers’ thinking, they could just be connecting dots based on the information they have. It’s also worth noting here that the Lakers are reportedly interested in confusing the teams behind them in the draft, so this could be the results of that effort. Still, with Gambadoro having broken numerous stories about the Suns before (notably the Steve Nash sign-and-trade to the Lakers), all of this stuff is at least worth noting heading towards what seems poised to be a roller-coaster of a draft night on June 22.
Adam ZagoriaVerified account@AdamZagoria 28m28 minutes ago Projected No. 1 pick Markelle Fultz is expected to meet this week with the Lakers, per source. Has met with Celtics
Dude said he has a promise, could be philly but thinks it's the Lakers, because we worked him out. We will see but I don't see why we would promise him when Fox hasn't even had his workout yet, and if the Celtics say took Ball Magically, were really taking JJ over him? Nah
I'm not sure how this "promise" thing is meant to confuse other teams. I'm not saying it's true, but if I'm the Celtics, I'm taking Fultz. If for some reason the Celtics take Ball, the Lakers will take Fultz. The Suns Philly, they can take whoever they want that is still available (whether that is for some reason Ball or Fultz at 3), but I don't think the 1 and 2 picks are going to change. It doesn't seem that complicated a decision tree.
And Philly hasn't. Because Fox isn't as good as Jackson. Not saying this really happened. Maybe it did, maybe it didn't. But Fox isn't as good as Jackson..a workout isn't going to change that.
NBA Draft Rumors: Lakers haven’t promised Josh Jackson they’ll draft him There was a somewhat puzzling report early Monday that the Los Angeles Lakers had “likely” promised Kansas freshman Josh Jackson they would draft him. With the No. 2 pick, the Lakers had very little incentive to promise any player anything because they could draft whoever they wanted other than whoever the Boston Celtics select first, which is why promises are usually given later than second overall. Plus, and the information seemed to be coming from the Phoenix Suns or people around that team, but it was out there nonetheless. Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders saw that report and attempted to shoot it down, tweeting that if Jackson has a “promise” that it wasn’t from the Lakers, who Kyler said “have been adamant they have promised nothing to anyone.” So what does all this mean? Well for one, that no one really knows anything this time of year. Reporters get lied to, or someone says something they assume to be true but actually isn’t when talking to one, or their are different thoughts within different organizations. The Lakers could have promised Jackson, Jackson’s camp could think they have a promise, the Suns or other teams could think there is a promise, or they could be attempting to blow smoke. There are almost literally endless possibilities as to where all these disparate reports are coming from, and why. Long story short, the lead-up to the NBA Draft is crazy, and it’s only going to get crazier over the next week or so. Fasten your seat belts.
GSW looking soft early. Boy, if the Warriors choke another title away..just blow that shit up. There's no getting over back to back choke jobs in the Finals
I know, but if we're going around promising prospects (which at #2 makes no sense), then why are we working out a not as good, but still potential candidate? Steve Kyler of Bball Insiders refuted this report, and Lakers today met with UCLA's coaching staff.
And tomorrow LAL will meet with Fox and work him out. Whether you promise a player or not, you still go about the process of the draft Who knows what could happen between now and then..Josh Jackson could get into a car accident and never walk again, you do your due diligence
Dennis Smith Jr. reportedly had a 48in vert at his LAL workout the other day LAL was impressed with him, reportedly The Lakers were “very impressed” with N.C. State point guard Dennis Smith Jr. during his workout Sunday, a source told ZAGSBLOG, and are reportedly “hopeful” of bringing in Washington guard Markelle Fultz this week. The Lakers pick at No. 2 in the June 22nd NBA Draft and have been linked to several lead guards, including Lonzo Ball, who met with the Lakers last week, De’Aaron Fox, Smith Jr and now Fultz. “They have some decisions to make,” the source said.
Lebron falls to 3-5 in the Finals Lol damn. No end in sight either Not 5, not 6 , not 7..maybe 8 Finals losses
