Could you imagine if he can turn a healthy Beckett and Haren in maybe 80% of their old selves? For some reason, I'm extremely positive about those two (specially Haren). We could have a #5 performing as a decent #2... What do you guys expect out of those 2?
haren finished last year strong 1 earned run (total) in 3 of his last 4 starts think he'll do well here in the #4 or #5 slot but he does give up a lot of hr's imo beckett gets underappreciated people forget how well he pitched for us in 2012 (2.93 era in 7 games) after the trade and they'll point out how crappy he did last year, while ignoring the fact he was injured that said, not sure what we'll get from him his injury was serious; some saying it was often career-ending
I think Haren will do fine if he can consistently keep the ball down. There's probably no fixing Beckett. The fastball/curveball combo doesn't work that well when your fastball tops out in the low 90s.
When my expectations for Josh Beckett are so low, it really doesn't matter how he pitches. If Haren can perform at a .500 level, I'd be happy.
