    Yeah, heard this too. They might as well recreate the Nats lineup.

    But in other non-news, it means don’t expect the Dodgers to make a splash.

    if ned were still running things madbum would get the same offer

    between cole, stras and rendon... my pick has always been rendon
    don't like giving long term deals to pitchers
    that said, we're not signing anyone significant so it's all moot

    • There’s a chance that the Yankees’ 7-year/$245MM bid will be one-upped by another suitor, particularly the Dodgers or Angels, who have been named the other favorites to land Cole. If those teams opt to go to an eighth or ninth year, the contract value could exceed $280MM.
    obviously hope we don't outbid the yanks
    but all in favor of the angels doing so

    have to figure any player signing that kind of contract will stumble under the expectations
    not to mention your life completely changes in the off season
    jet setting Europe or whatever you feel like doing
    do you continue to prepare the same knowing you have 245 million guaranteed regardless?
    an injury ala Driefort that never goes away...the downside is just too high imo

    Cole is the better pitcher and Stras' arm is one pitch away from falling off. Two Tommy John's and several other issues since SD State.
