Gavin Stone on Monday. Bobby Miller on Tuesday. Will be cool to get a glimpse into the team's future.
Very true. But I don't see either going over five innings against a loaded Braves lineup. Going to tax an already overworked pen.
Stone showed some stones. Shellacked in the first inning, like jpl said on the road vs a really good team, and only his second start, it could've got away from him. But he kept the deficit manageable and then his teammates picked him up. Definitely something for him to build off of.
Hopefully now that Freddie hit the big go-ahead HR, Braves fans will stop giving him standing ovations. That was ridiculous today.
Love the production they're getting from him, but I wish he could play another position besides "hitter." Really hurts the lineup when Smith takes a day off from catching. A year ago he would be the DH. Not the case this year with JD in the lineup.
And immediately gave up a run as soon as he stepped on the mound.( I know...the stats will say it was charged to Phil), but you and I both know that's not his job. And got lucky, as he usually does, not to give up more and the lead. I simply expect runners on immediately from him, and he's overated because he easily throws 100 mph...which is the most non- effective K rate 100 mph in baseball, I believe. I simply don't see him as you do, not at this particular point, but as I posted previously, it's better to be lucky than good.
I chuckled at that. I would've probably laughed harder, but the humor in it was muted by the sobering realization that it just may become reality.
That was a good win overall. Didn't think we'd do anything but get swept by a juggernault. It's hard to go at Muncy, but he isn't getting any academic awards too soon, I don't think. And maybe eating a wee bit too much stew or whatever it is he likes. Looks like 10 pounds on him now compared from the beginning of the season. It's OK if you still do your job...carry that weight, like the Beatles sang. But maybe not the base stealing speedster that, uh...you once were. And that throw from Murphy- as perfect as it gets. What a howitzer.
Judging by LAD's record, especially with a puke-looking lineup relative to year's past...Dave isn't going anywhere.
