Jerry could hold Magic's hand (no homo) until he learns the ropes. Not real confident about Magic on his own or with Jeannie. Kupchak had Doc Buss and Jerry grooming him. Magic needs similar guidance. Listening to Magic being interviewed on 710 about 30 minutes ago. He says the team will embrace annalennics. Not sure if he meant analytics or the former lead singer of the Eurythmics.
Me neither, but if it brings better structure and harmony to the FO, I guess that's at least one positive. Hopefully Magic's inexperience as a NBA exec won't hurt..hell, hopefully his friendship w/Larry Bird will help land us you know who... I think that's Magic's niche..salesman. Crazy how ESPN has been letting him use their platform to sell LAL's young core and sell himself as guy that players would play for. The timing of this move is odd as shit since the trade deadline is basically here..here I was thinking a Lou Williams trade was the focus.. Lol
http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/h...f-they-hire-a-real-gm-to-help-make-decisions/ Agreed, so this Pelinka hire for GM is underwhelming given his inexperience as well.. Adrian WojnarowskiVerified account@WojVerticalNBA 18m18 minutes ago Lakers are finalizing a multi-year agreement with agent Rob Pelinka as general manager, league sources tell @TheVertical. He'll start soon. However, there are at least some positives w/Pelinka @ GM.. Adrian WojnarowskiVerified account@WojVerticalNBA 7m7 minutes ago Pelinka's been prominent agent for years, holds strong relationships w/ league execs, engineered deals, recruiting in deep '17 draft class. Overall, kind of a balance between the positives and negatives of the Magic/Pelinka hires. Gets the ball rolling at least and definitely better than bringing Phil back as an exec because he's a proven failure, picking on his players on Twitter and silly shit like that. Hopefully Magic's done w/his dumbass tweets as well.
Ask Mike Jordan........on the court greatness doesn't necessarily equate to front office greatness. Agree.....just say no to Phil and tell Erv to shove his Twitter account up his ass (no homo).
He's also been very successful in business and knows how to network. He "Smiled" his way into Dodger ownership and made 100's of millions off the court.... Magic > MJ
That'll work, HOU has helped LAL out quite a bit in recent years Adrian WojnarowskiVerified account@WojVerticalNBA 11m11 minutes ago The Rockets are sending Corey Brewer and a first-round pick to the Lakers for Lou Williams, league source tells @TheVertical.
Neither does coaching greatness..look at that mockery in NY No more telling us how Okafor is going to be a great Laker champion He literally cannot discuss other players in public anymore w/ his new title, so we only have to worry about him saying stupid shit about the Lakers...
I duno.....that pick is going to be a 25-30 pick imo. I was hoping for a late teens high 20's. A trade with the Hornets would have gotten that.
So? Nance, Zubac, and Clarkson come to mind as far as late 1st round/early 2nd round talent goes. Lakers just have to continue to draft well later on in the draft. They could also package that pick later
Very true. Laker MGT has proven of late that they can find late 1st and 2nd round talent. However, Cupcake is gone.......how much of that was him? Don't know. Im hoping that the "team" that found those guys is still largely intact. My desire for a higher pick would simply be in the trade market should MGT decide to try for a Butler type in the offseason.
David AldridgeVerified account@daldridgetnt 7m7 minutes ago No protections on first-rounder Rockets are also sending Lakers along with Corey Brewer for Lou Williams. KEVIN DINGVerified account@KevinDing 16m16 minutes ago Magic had Luke Walton, Jesse Buss, Joey Buss and Ryan West with him in working on trade calls today from Lakers headquarters. Ross Pickering@RossPickering 23m23 minutes ago The last time the Lakers got a first-round pick from the Rockets they turned it into Larry Nance Jr.
Trade Mozgov and Randle for Carmelo Anthony. Trade the current 1st round pick and Deng for Paul George. Trade Black and Huertas for Ricky Rubio. Trade Russell and Clarkson for Butler. Sign Larry Sanders PG: Rubio, Lou, Calderon SG: Butler, Young SF: George, Ingram PF: Melo, Nance C: Zubac, Sanders, Thomas Firepower.
Unless Brewer can be flipped to a team under the cap floor, this makes no sense. Lakers actually add cap, and not an expiring deal, which won't help with getting a potential star in FA.
