The reason I asked about the Bird factor is because Bird stepped down as Pacers' prez in April of last year. About a month and a half before LAL and Indy got to the table on behalf of George. He wasn't running negotiations. When you said " GS isn't invincible ", I thought for sure you'd point to the Rockets 3-2 lead over them in the WCF. JR's fuck up didn't do anything to thwart their title chances. Cavs just would've gotten their asses whooped in 5 games. The Celtics, as they stand right now, would not beat GSW next season. Too inexperienced. Even if Gordon Hayward returns and plays well..he himself hasn't done anything the playoffs. Kawhi would give them an edge.

I wouldn't hate it, but say goodbye to George..which I don't hate either. Give me LeBron, Kawhi, Faried, Chandler and Arthur. That's works on a lot of levels..all 3 Denver guys can hold their own defensively, Faried and Arthur hit their FTs, Chandler and Arthur can knock down 3's at a respectable clip, all 3 athletic with solid length, uptempo type guys. Now, just don't give up too much in the SAS trade
He did step down but his influence is all encompassing in that organization and I'm sure he made his feelings known even after.
Herb Simon and Donnie Walsh are the guys you're looking for here. Bird stepped down, began scouting in and out of country for the draft. The Lakers and Pacers actually had trade discussions. If you're not willing to trade George to the Lakers at all, you're not going to have discussions.
Why would we take on salary just for a pick? That would kill our cap space to try to sign PG13 or try to keep Randle. Plus trades have to match salaries, not just picks. So are they taking Deng? But then its not really a salary dump for the Nuggets is it. This is the kind of rumor mill crap I hate. Lots of talking but no explanation how all this could work.
Yeah its all rumor mill but IMO MGT is not getting all 3. Im guessing its Bron and Leonard or Bron and PG13. I honestly think they are going to wait for 2019 to get Kay Thompson and bring him home.
Problem is, Magic never said he was targeting 3 guys. Magic has always said, I mean since before last season, that he wants room for 1 or 2 guys. The 3-headed monster thing has just taken on a life of it's own, but it doesn't have to come to that for LAL to win. LeBron is that damn good..Kawhi is that damn good. Both Top 5 players. If just one of the kids steps up, say Kuz, they're going to be a handful for everybody. Personally, Faried is fine with me. Plays the 4 and 5, athletic enough to switch onto wings/guards defensively, hustles his ass off, plays with some toughness..again, hits his FTs. He's fine as a role guy. Julius is better, but Faried's a solid alternative, especially given who he'd be playing with. Same with Wilson Chandler or Arthur. I don't think LAL will be taking on all 3, but Faried and Wilson Chandler would be cool with me. I'm more worried about where they'd fit into the rotation/what it'd mean as far as the path LAL takes in trade talks with the Spurs. Cool with Chandler, but don't want him to be replacing Kuz. As far as trades having to match salaries, that's not the case after July 1st, when LAL starts clearing the books. But this is not guaranteed to happen..LAL is said to still be looking around for a match as far as taking on salary to get a pick. Wes Matthews would be a solid option if Hart has to go to San Antonio.
