Lol i think we've found some imagination here, TB.

if you think we need our catcher to go 1B to 3B with regularity..who's lookin for Dee Gordon @ backstop now?

    baseball reference.

Yoan Moncada‘s expected $30MM to $40MM price tag (reported on Nov. 12) isn’t the only impediment for interested clubs, writes Baseball America’s Ben Badler. Teams routinely reach handshake agreements with the next crop of international free agents well in advance of the July 2nd signing period. Any club who signs Moncada will not be able to sign an international player for over $300K, which would force many teams to rescind existing agreements. While that may not sound like a big issue, Badler describes Latin American scouting as a “small world.” A misstep could alienate the small cadre of influential trainers in the region.

    extremely interesting.

Not necessarily the catcher, we need SOME BODY to go from first to third with regularity.

I've used BBR for years, I guess I need to look a little deeper.

Tim Dierkes was the first to report there are three very unlikely teams still in the mix for Yasmany Tomas.

mhm..us? we do currently have a full complement of outfielders and a GG caliber 3rd baseman. we might currently be viewed as an unlikely team...

Cubs Appear To Be Front-Runners For Russell Martin
By Charlie Wilmoth [November 16, 2014 at 8:43pm CST]
Executives involved in negotiations with free agent catcher Russell Martin believe the Cubs are the leading bidders, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets. Rosenthal further suggests that the negotiations are heading toward a deal in the range of four years and $64MM, a bit less than the five years and $72.5MM MLBTR’s Steve Adams recently projected for Martin.

slight overpay on the AAV, but it seem about right. Dodgers might have to go to a 5th year to get him.

... except that Rosenthal is a moron perhaps I'd be concerned...

I keep telling myself that the GG guys got uber rich by playing fixed closed end games and that they havfe "SOME" solution for us beyond paying beaucoup coin for free agents

They were the clear front runner until Toronto added that 5th year. Not defending Ken but that's all I heard out there that the Cubs were front runners.

    Dodgers Acquire Jenson from Marlins

Interesting move. As a tweet In the article says, I really think this shows how aggressively the FO will work to trade at least one of the OFers, excluding Puig, this off-season.

Here's to hoping we get some value for Ethier and Crawford and get to see a regular OF of Kemp, Joc and Puig.
