no he made the right play, DP was iffy at best. prevent the run if you can, Joc also was smart by getting into a run down and allowing whoever was running behind him to get to third.
that's what i'm saying..but Alonso either would've had to make a perfect/quick throw to 2B to get Turner after stepping on 1B..or they would've had to hope to get Puig on the back end of the DP. either way it's tough.
The "shift" talk is so funny to me though cause it's not like players are traditionally meant to be placed in set locations. It's pretty common in high school to learn to move around based on the hitter/pitcher. Obviously not as dramatic as they are shifting now but I mean the smarter, better players were the ones who could be moved in great position. But once it became something that "numbers guys" did...
i missed that. depending on how SD played it we could've still had 1B and 3B if Joc holds tight, possibly 3B and 2B as well. the double play would've been a tough go with Puig running and the ball hit to 1B is basically what i'm saying.
