WASHINGTON -- Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu will begin a throwing program, possibly as early as today, after a positive visit to team surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Monday.

Ryu went on the disabled list April 28 due to left shoulder blade inflammation, something that bothered him during his last start and went back to the West Coast for Monday's visit with the doctor.

Mattingly said the doctor determined no more tests were necessary. In addition, Mattingly said it "sounds like" Ryu was pain free on Monday, so now he'll just start a throwing program.

"With everything, doc felt good, didn't need anything, just let him start working there and moving forward," Mattingly said.

Ryu said earlier that he dealt with a similar issue pitching in Korea three years ago and was doing much better in just 10 days. Plus, he said on Friday that the shoulder already felt improved from where it was before.

My shoulder would hurt carrying that loaded tray around.

His eyes are slanted? I thought they were only slightly sloped.
