The unexpected success has led to many speculating on whether a potential All-Star Game selection could be in Stripling’s future. Stripling has additionally tallied 78 strikeouts compared to only 11 walks, while already accumulating 2.5 WAR on the year, per Baseball-Reference’s calculations.
His curve (usually pretty good) and his changeup (really good during this current streak) are making his pedestrian fastball all the more effective. Really like he's working the change more and more into his game.
totally agree funny you say pedestrian fastball... game before last he got one up to 94mph (according to the gun) but despite the velocity it seemed so lifeless, so... well, pedestrian but yeah his offspeed and breaking pitches have been really sharp and not sure if it's mostly him/grandmal/honeycutt, but the pitch calling has been exceptional guys look off balance and uncomfortable up there i give credit to sandoval for muscling that ball out yesterday, but tbh he was fooled and got lucky
He really worked over Crawford with his change last night. Shows how much things have changed when we consider a 94 mph fastball ho-hum. Box score showed Fat Boy with a 2B and a HR. Both hits came on pitches well off the plate. That said I was scared shitless Jansen was going to walk Crawford and Pablow would come up representing the go ahead run.
