Lol not everyone is going to flat out hit every month of the year. They're not robots. Remember Kemp in the first half? We don't measure players by a period in the season, we go by overall numbers.
I love Adrian, his consistency has been great, but there are stats that prove he hasn't been the best Dodger in that timeframe. It's easier to replace a good hitting first baseman than an outfielder with the tools Puig has.
Why are you so defensive over Puig? I didn't say he was supposed to hit every month. What I said was just based on last year and how Kemp, Adrian, Hanley, and Crawford powered us through an August collapse by Puig. That happened and they can do it again if they play well and up to standard. They don't have to go as Puig goes...that's pretty much the point I'm making. We have depth offensively. You can replace Puig in the story if you like...
Not being a stathead, this is where I get off. I can't argue all that with anyone, not inclined to at all, but I figure I can look at a game with most anyone and know what's going on, or what should be...if Yasiel has better RBI stats than Agon, then I stand corrected. And gobsmacked, too.
fwiw, i think adrian's defense is extremely underrated he alone has saved our pitchers a shit-ton of baserunners
My main point is that it's easier to replace Adrian than Puig. Which makes sense because there's so many great hitting first basemen that can field also. Goldschmidt, Votto, Rizzo, Freeman, etc. Or players who are just better, like Cabrera for example. Top outfielder wRC+ (stat that purely judges offensive performance) in baseball from 2013-2014: Trout McCutchen Puig Werth Stanton My goal really isn't to start a Puig vs A-Gon debate, just pointing out that people are seriously under appreciating Puig here.
I probably just misunderstood what you were saying with all the negative Puig vibes going around these days. I agree, we have a very balanced offensive team that can withstand a player or two slumping at a time.
Cherington hasn't been able to evaluate pitching as well as Theo did, flat out garbage on the mound for Boston these days
