Update: Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical reports there are six teams Durant has set up meetings with, although the Lakers are still not on the list: Durant's representatives at Roc Nation are working to solidify invitations with the Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Thunder, league sources said. The meetings are expected to take place in New York, but teams are still awaiting word on a location.
So...what the fuck are the Lakers waiting for? I mean, at least make an effort to have a meeting with the man. Unless of course we tried and he wasn't having it...
Timelines just don't match up. Durant isn't going to join a team full of inexperienced players in a rebuilding process. If he leaves, I think he goes to Golden State or Miami.
Ingram has the handle and passing ability to be a 5 assists per game guy one of these days. It really should mesh well with DLo's ability to shoot and Clarkson's improving shot..if they're still around. Marc Stein reported that the Kings were trying to get DLo and you know who would have to be coming to LAL if DLo were leaving, at least from Mitch's POV. Don't know how much I like a Boogie addition for Luke's prospects, but I like Boogie's skillset/talent level for sure and I do feel like he can be a winner. It'd be a gamble for sure, but I'm also not sure if Boogie and DLo don't cancel one another out as far as immaturity goes. You could say well Boogie is older and should be more mature by now, but Boogie is also the best 5 in the game and a stud/all-star, what DLo only hopes to be one day. And perhaps between MWP, Shaw, and Luke there is some ability to at least contain a Boogie? It's interesting at least, I have to wonder if SAC even offered Boogie in the deal. Grab Boogie and see what Durant thinks about that?
BTW Boogie's a free agent in the summer of '18 Who knows what the CBA says about Bird rights at that point
NBA Central @TheNBACentral 57m57 minutes ago Report: Hassan Whiteside is a "priority target" for the Lakers. (via ESPN) Tim MacMahonVerified account @espn_macmahon 1h1 hour ago Heat, Mavs, Lakers are known suitors for Hassan Whiteside. Blazers (and others) widely expected to be in mix. Ira Winderman @IraHeatBeat 1h1 hour ago Whiteside on Lakers in March, "I feel like [Madison Square] Garden and the Staples Center are like the two biggest places to play . . . " Really like this guy [no homo] And he improved his FT% to 65% this year which is more than passable. His pick and roll D leaves a lot to be desired, but he's a force in the lane as a presence. And probably most importantly, and unlike a Horford more than likely, Whiteside probably isn't hunting a NBA championship in free agency, so maybe he's cool with being a part of a rebuild. Gonna be hard to pluck him away from Riley, but I wonder if Riley would try to stiff Whiteside to a degree because he and Bosh aren't really a good fit together and he's pretty much stuck with Bosh because of his health issues
Whiteside is a dork too. Stays out of trouble and is kind of a homebody. I follow him on social media and he primarily is working out or playing video games in his apartment lol. Translation: He will fit in well with this squad.
Between Whiteside and DLo, LAL wouldn't be lacking much swag. But Riles is a worthy competitor, know that. I think all of a sudden our roster is a better fit for Whiteside tho Even without his health issues Bosh is still long in the tooth and better when playing the 5 And we know Wade is old, and Haslem who seems to be on a lifetime deal with MIA Lol Horford probably fits MIA better, and Whiteside fits LAL better. Would love Horford too tho.
