green should have just said joc was fat roberts would have said "i know" then them and the umps would have busted up laughing
Hasn't played left all year so that's a factor and he's not on the 40 man roster. Mystery injuries or DFA's could be arranged but what's the rush. We have 5 guys on the 10 day and 5 others on the 60 day DL, all but Garcia/Toles and Segedin (I think) are expected back. Just so many moves would have to be made for Alex to get the call early and again what's the hurry. EDIT: Played LF in 2 games this year, 6 games total in 4 seasons.
The hurry for me is that apart from Justin Turner and Kenley Jansen, we have a lineup of sub .300 hitters. Would love another pest out there stroking hits, because eventually, we ain't gonna be hitting 50 bombs in a month, and we still need the runs.
We're ONLY 9th in HR's and #1 in run differential, something is going right. We're not in dire need of Alex right now, let him finish the AAA season and see where he ends up. Minor league season ends before the majors do.
The same thing was probably said about Bellinger. Could you imagine our season without him? You want the best possible team playing. Well, I do anyway.
Bellinger was brought up as a spark to a 15 - 14 start, a couple days after Arroyo was called up for the Gnats which jump started them for the 1st 5 games. I am of the opinion that we saw that spark and then brought Bellinger up. Plus Bellinger's ability to play 1st was a factor. There was even talk of Bellinger being the 1st to be sent down after he struggled badly at the onset.
While batting average is far from the best stat to judge a player, there is value in having hitters who can hit in high-volume and get on base. There's a reason Justin Turner and Corey Seager considered our best hitters. Adding Verdugo to the mix would really compliment this lineup well. I think it's a perfect fit. He's a gap hitter who walks more than he strikes out and is hitting .350 as a 21 year old in AAA. He's also a very good defensive player.
It's not about prefer it's what we need. I prefer to have all the kids come up and be successful but it's far more complicated than just calling him up. The PCL is notorious for being a hitters haven and long time Dodger fans know how many guys are great down there and then fail miserably in the bigs never to be heard of again.
When you are walking more than you're striking out and slugging so high on extra-base hits and few home runs... It's not the Pacific coast League. The kid just rakes. He makes a ton of hard contact and I'm guessing no real holes in his swing.
My comments about AAA isn't a new development just because Alex is more unique doesn't change the majority of the history. I'm not shitting on the idea of calling him up because I'd love it but what is the hurry??? Nobody has answered that yet.
I would also like to see Verdugo up before the trade deadline because if a team asks for Puig or Joc in trade for an impact player, it'd be nice to know if Alex can slide in and hit big league pitching.
Call me crazy, but it sure looks like they're getting Bellinger on that down and in pitch way more often than not these days. Yes indeed. They are using as the out pitch ( K) quite successfully.
He picks the low throws as well as Gonzo but doesn't throw out field ground balls nearly as well (yet).
