He has 2 pitches right now, none crack 90 mph, and he throws them down the pipe in the playoffs. He’s not tipping, he’s just not that good in the playoffs
When we got Grandmal he was hitting .265 and played a better than average 'framing catcher' people raved... now = passed ball queen When we brought up Barnes he was the next home grown C who could hit and play D... now hitting .071 My how so much changes in so little time
The absurd thing is that the rest of the catchers around the league are so truly awful that Grandal is still a top 2-3 catcher lol
From @based_ball 12 batters since Clayton Kershaw's last swinging strike, and that was David Price, an American League pitcher
In Roberts defense, he mismanaged our pitching staff and cost us 2 WS in a row... but Alex Cora has done all the same shit and more, but his team is dominating. He pitched Joe Kelly and Kimbrel 4 straight games, pitched their #5 choice in game 4 after he threw in relief the day before, Price is pitching in short rest and had a relief appearance and warmed up the day before. We should be destroying their pitching right now.
Even if he dominates again, I don’t want him back. He’d be shit with us. Thanks for some great memories Clayton.
I know I sound more like a Dave apologist than most but a lot of that comes from thinking that most managers do the same or way worse moves. The difference between Cora and Dave is that Sale/Price/Kimbrel don’t give up back breaking home runs and Kershaw/Jansen do. I truly don’t think any manager would’ve won it all with these players the way they choke
