I wasn't really considering him as a full time 2B since he is best used in a super utility role.

Gotcha. Although, personally, I'd prefer Marwin/Kike handling 2B as a duo over LeMahieu. LeMahieu's been unimpressive against RHP the last couple years and for much of his career. And then of course, not nearly the same hitter away from Coors. A sub-.700 OPS away from Coors in the bigs. Hopefully, LeMahieu is a last resort sort of option even though he does offer some contact hitting

I worry that 2017 is more of the outlier, not the norm for Marwin. Not to mention, we already have two other guys that do what he does, only better and for cheaper. My choice would be Lowrie on a 2 yr deal and if that doesn't work, take a flyer on Tulo since his upside is still one of the better players in baseball and would come for the league minimum. The other guys available don't really offer a ton of upside in my book.

With Lowrie, my worry would be his age, he turns 35 at the beginning of the season, so his best baseball may not be in front of him either. Catching guys on the way down, we love to do that @ 2B..Utley, Dozier, Logie, etc.

I'd be good with just running Kike out there to keep Lux's seat warm, TBH

There have been a couple of minor deals today. Nothing spectacular, but it is something to watch as most of these teams prefer to go into the Christmas-New Years holiday with a lot of their roster decisions made. This also can be said for the ever growing impatience of a free agent. The next 30 hours or so could see a lot of movement as teams try to figure things out before the weekend and these FO guys go off to be with their fam's for a week to 10 days. We may not see a monumental trade at this point, but I would not be shocked if there are a couple of small things that get put together. The Marlins are said to be using Christmas as a bit of an unofficial deadline on whether or not they trade Realmuto. I don't think they will, but this kinda shows that teams like to use that date to get things done. When everyone comes back to the office, it will be a little over a month before pitchers and catchers report.

One thing that Feinsand just pointed out while chatting about AJ Pollock. The teams that are in on Pollock are also teams that are in on Harper. So the teams that are showing interest in him are waiting until that is figured out before really going after him. Would guess that the Dodgers interest in Pollock is as a backup plan or tandem signing.

Rockies closing in on a deal for Daniel Murphy. Boy do I love that for the Rockies as long as the idea is to play him at 1B.

Can you explain the tandem thing? I don't get why the Dodgers would be interested in Pollock either way

My thinking with the tandem thing is if a ton of shit were to go down. Say they get Harper, then they pull off a deal for Kluber where it costs them Joc, then the Reds deal where they move Kemp & Puig and finally the deal for Realmuto where they send Verdugo. So now OF depth goes from aplenty to weak. That is the only thing that I can really think of. I am with you though, I don't like the idea of a big contract for him with his injury history or the loss of the pick.

The only thing I can think of as it relates to Pollock & the Dodgers is maybe they want Bellinger back at 1B, so he can focus on hitting and maybe he's closer to his 2017 form. Obviously this isn't done at the expense of Bryce, but in the event he should chase the money, this isn't a terrible backup plan and gives them the flexibility to use the remaining assets to address Catcher and/or 2B and/or an impact starter (Kluber).

Andrew Miller is going to the Cards. Looks like this was somewhat true...

Agreed, plus between Bellinger’s and Muncy’s flexibility you can add another starting caliber CF or 2B and be fine.

JT misses time every year, Muncy can play 1B and 2B and will DH against AL teams, that’s enough to get him 500 PA’s.

What Floyd Mayweather did to Manny Pacquiao is the approach the Dodgers have taken in filling 2B over the years. They wait until you're old and suck and then come for you.

We already know where this is heading with 2B....Troy Tulowitzki , come on down. As for catcher, can't believe Yasmani hasn't landed $50-70MM yet. Wonder if this makes Wieters feel any better?

A’s, Rangers and Rays just started the day with a big 3 way deal that saw Jurickson Profar being the biggest name moved. I think this is going to be a busy Friday
