According to Jeff passan, everyone was asking for Will Smith this deadline. Pretty clear why they didn’t move him haha

    Friedman: "Quick, do something"

So does May start and shift Maeda to the pen? Or does May go to the pen?

They'll use him once a week (slight exaggeration). Where does that get them?

Look forward to three or four inning starts and lots of innings from the pen.

    Wonderful.

May is starting and taking Striplings spot for foreseeable future. May probably shifts to bullpen when Strip is back and Maeda going to bp for playoffs IF Hill comes back fine

I agree that for the rest of the regular season while Strip is injured May will start. Dodgers have a cushion and can experiment. Once Strip is back, depending on how he does, I wonder if it makes more sense to move Maeda to BP, keep May as a starter?

I'm almost positive Hill will not be useable after this injury. I hope I'm wrong, but he just can't stay healthy. Continue to use Urias when you can as a SP.

I think that’ll depend on where May is at with innings. You want him to not be tired for the playoffs and to see how he acts in the bullpen

Agree 100% with you. We can salivate all we want over minor league possibilities, and lionize these guys we picked up today, but compared to Atlanta and Houston, two teams that we will see on the way to our "glory",
we have just moved further away from a ring than we have been in two years.
And wtf with no GM...this guy isn't superman. Somebody is fucking the mutt on this...or got a runaway ego about their ability to be clever and make it happen.
I guess we're not favorites to win it all anymore.
    Maybe that's a good thing.

Ok, now that I have had time to wake up, drink my coffee, have breakfast and now am sitting on the beach, I can sum up my thoughts on the deadline.

    What I’m thankful for:
    • While some of the other NL teams certainly improved, none really leapt forward. The Braves bullpen is better, but one of their main acquisitions for the pen is crushed by lefties.
    • The Giants traded some pieces, but ultimately kept their best ones that would have landed them interesting spects. We will see how this plays out in the end, but sure seems like a shortsighted decision.
    • The Dodgers held onto their best prospects, as well as most of their potential rising stars.
    • While many of the leagues top teams improved, none of the top LH starters were moved to them. So most of the rotations lined up to face the Dodgers will be RH heavy aside from a potential rematch with the Sox or Yankees.
    • The Dodgers were able to land a much needed LOOGY, but they gotta keep him just that.
    What I’m annoyed with:
    • The Dodgers just couldn’t land that dire need for a big arm for the back end. Passing on Kimbrel is a growing frustration for me.
    • Seriously, fuck the Mets and Pirates. Two of the worst run franchises in the game legit fucked up our deadline. One hijacked the deadline and refused to move anything for some dumb reason, while the other just did nothing cause they think they’re on the cusp of winning it all!? Get the fuck outta here. No your closer is not worth an MLB ready MIF prospect with star upside.
    • The Astros got A LOT better and are now easily the favorites to come out of the AL. HFA just got exceedingly more important.
    Stray observations and rumors:
    • The Rockies are just so poorly run.
    • Word is the Dodgers had no intention of moving Ruiz in a deal either according to some MiLB people. While the Dodgers love Smith, the feeling is that he can only handle a backups work load.
    • Watch OKC, Santana, Gonsolin and White could all start being used on reliever type roles.

Stockholm Syndrome. There’s no justification. They’re cheap and take our money and keep it. They can still win the World Series but they could’ve improved their chances multiples times for just money. It’s bullshit.

Drunk walking tour? Did one of those. Walk around the city with a wagon of beer and sangria.

Hope if Hill cant come back he just stays away from the team. Every time I see him I'm reminded of Dave pulling him after 4 innings every postseason start. Too many PTSD triggers on this team.
    He didnt thank Dave Robots
    That's enough for me

Prague is my favorite only because I went there very soon after the Wall came down. It was raw, but not overrun with tourists. Such a beautiful city. I remember when I was there, there were stores showcasing Western products like dishwasher soap and cereal like they were luxury goods. I'm sure times have changed.

BTW, I love Barcelona as well.

Some great food and the public transportation is the best
Outdoor civilized beer gardens and that awful space needle thing
Was high af in the back of one of those paddle boats w my daughter's peddling and the emergency warning system went off in Russian
That was fucking chilling and I thought the world was ending
Russia and Germany are still huge players
