cleveland not interested, pretty sure boston won’t be either
would love to keep lux obviously
but you can’t expect to land a billfish by offering krill

Those renovations were announced about 6 months ago in preparation for the All Star game.

Yeah, that’s not gonna get Betts. This might be another wait till the trade deadline year.

Why would Boston trade Mookie for Seager, honestly? Best bet is trade Seager elsewhere in a three-way trade.

And honestly, if we were smart we’d take Price. He’s worse but not incredibly worse than Ryu. And if it means getting Mookie, I’d way, WAY rather have Mookie and Price than Ryu and Seager.

If we take on Price, my days of being a Dodger fan are over. Unless we DFA his ass. Can't stand that prick.

Disagree. Price IS incredibly worse than Ryu. I'd rather have Ryu's translator pitching than Price. The way I see it, if you take on Price's contract to get Betts, then you are saying you're willing to pay Betts $120 million for 1 season.

Well that is a weird reason to stop being a fan. It’s not like he’s Luke Heimlich

I'm a die hard fan. Buy what theyre selling. They are keeping what they've built and supplementing it. If the opportunity to get something nice they will try but not break their plan. Their plan is to build, keep, supplement, compete each year until it breaks their way.

I believe in making a plan and following through without panicking. I guess I'm just "fecking stupid".

You don't have to apologise. Passion spills in various ways and I love all forms. The difference is that I see their plan and I believe in it's logic. What would make me truly bitter is if they wavered and started making stupid moves (like the Padres do. Moves with no sense for direction).

I would go in on elite guys only. With that said,I would NOT given Cole more than 7 years. I don't like unmoveable assets. Rendon really disappointed me. I'd love Lindor. I think we all have to wait to see what happens with Kris Bryant before ANY moves are made. The Dodgers are due diligence guys and they will want to know the status of his contract.

I think we have reached the stage of the offseason where it is important to remind the board that when there is smoke with this FO in regards to a trade, it is likely coming from the remnants of the fire that had been extinguished weeks ago. This FO does not leak anything and since Chaim is coming from the same background, I am willing to bet that these teams have not had discussions any time recently for their talks to have been made so public. There was a report a couple of years ago where the FO had started to leak false info to different people to locate the rat within the org. This same FO has reportedly told teams in the past that if they hear about a potential deal being leaked from the other side, they would walk. They do not like letting things get out. The only reason the Machado talks were so public is that the Orioles were a horrifically awful run franchise that wasn't getting strong offers and were doing everything possible to drum up interest(copy, paste Pirates 2019). The only reports out of Boston were that the Dodgers SHOULD be the ones in on Price, which no they fucking shouldn't unless he is paired with Betts and no prospects of any real magnitude. There was a response post to that saying that both FO's acknowledged that the teams had not spoken since before the winter meetings and talks were essentially dead. The absolute whirlwind from the winter meetings killed a lot of weeks of potential stories for writers, so now they are digging in to something else. While big names are being talked about, it is very unlikely that those players are actually moved at this point as word is the trade market is pretty rough behind the scenes. We have entered a new era of baseball where EVERYONE is overvaluing their prospects now, while also in a tweener stage on what a stars true value is and teams not wanting to take on high dollar figures. Until the new CBA is figured out, it may get pretty weird. I'm under the belief that the Dodgers will make a small tweak or two, but at this point, I am not expecting anything earth shattering.

This FO has shown that they will not go all out for FAs and will not make a big trade during the off season. If they are in on a trade, it will be close to the trade deadline where they feel the balance of power will shift toward the team with valuable prospects and big pockets.

So I would not be shocked at all if we don’t really sign or get anyone else before Spring Training. Ryu, Lindor, Donaldson, Betts, it’s all smoke and no fire. Why would it be any different this year vs any other year.

The thing is prospects are tantalizing until you see them actually play in the big leagues. Then you see who they really are, and that’s a double edged sword.

And even when the prospects do work out, you have a time window to use the right combination of these players because this FO does not appear to be willing to re-sign their players to big time FA contracts like they did for CK. That’s the sense I’m getting.

So no all out pushes to combine the big FA and the youngsters. Play the young ones....until they are not young anymore and cross your fingers. And hope you rebuild projects and hand me downs pan out.

I’m not sure why I would expect anything else.

By what? 2019 only? Over the last 3 years Ryu’s FIP is 3.6 Price is 3.8. Swap their home ballparks and quality of opponents and their results are probably a wash. Price also has versatility to pitch in different roles and he showed beating us in the 2018 World Series. Ryu is straight up a 5 inning starter every October, and even that is scary. He loses 2 mph on his fastball and he’s finished I’d guess.

Starting a Game 3 in a playoff series for me I might even prefer Price I’ll be honest
