    Lol
    Exactly.
    Mana from heaven.
What did the old marlin tell the young tuna before crossing the waves and getting closer to the grubs on the beach?
There is no free lunch my friend.
And you end up oiled up and stuck in the can with a pepper up your ass for flavor.
Then the chum starts falling and it's hard to resist.

Or you can just have someone bring you a can of sardines and go get you that fucking marlin talking all kinds of shit.

I feel like he should've had a deal as soon as Rendon signed. Like he probably isn't getting offers that he expected

Reports today said that the Nats are believed to be the only team that has offered him 4 years and they are also supposed to be way higher in the AAV category than other teams as well. Would not be shocked if they are offsetting that with more of their deferred payment shit and that is what the delay is. He is supposedly giving the Braves a chance to beat any offer that he gets as he would like to remain with them.

Just one day left until it is officially Christmas week. In Friedman's tenure thus far he has made an MLB roster trade sometime this week in 3 of his 4 seasons. Nothing done this week and suddenly we will be a month away from spring training with the exact same roster, minus a couple of important FA's as most front offices close up shop until after the new year. I am starting to get the impression that we are going to see a relatively similar roster... again.
    • Rockies are in fact shopping 3B Nolan Arenado according to a report from Ken Rosenthal today. The Dodgers expressed interest, but came away believing that the Rockies have no intention of trading him to a division rival... or more specifically THIS division rival. The Rockies are likely going to be going into a rebuild before Arenado's opt out after 2021 and the club is thinking it may want to get out ahead of that situation. The Rockies have an awful farm system and could find themselves in a giant hole in the division here soon. The Rangers have been the heaviest pursuer of the 7 time gold glover, but there is some belief that if the Rockies decide to move him, then Arenado could use his NTC to pick his destination ala Giancarlo Stanton.
    • While the Angels locked up presumably their rotation today, there is still some belief they could be kicking around on some other of the FA starters, but nothing is for certain.
    • There was a rumor yesterday that Ryu is looking for a higher AAV than Bumgarner and something around 4 years. There is some belief that at least one team has shown a willingness to go there, but it is not believed to be the Dodgers.
    • The Reds have entered themselves into the Lindor talks now as a potential destination for the Cleveland star. The Reds have be somewhat presumed as the potential landing place for Seager.
Updating this with new info from a late night post from Rosenthal.
    • The Twins and Nats seem to be out in front on Donaldson as both are willing to go 4 yrs and reportedly over $100M. The Dodgers and Braves are also still in pursuit, but not considered front runners.
    • The Indians have told teams to present final and bests tomorrow for Lindor. They will then make a decision over the weekend whether to trade or not to trade him. He said the Dodgers and Padres seem to be the hottest pursuers.
    • The market for Ryu is taking shape and the writing on the wall is that he probably will not be back. The Blue Jays, Twins, Angels, White Sox and Dodgers are the teams that are in. Rosenthal has heard mixed reports as some are saying that Ryu is looking at 4 years at over $80M while others are saying no way will anyone take on that much risk.

Heyman reporting this morning that Dodgers do not seem willing to go to a 4th year for Donaldson. Both the Nats and Twins are. So unless the Dodgers blow the AAV out of the water, he’ll be going elsewhere.

Pollock was 3 years younger when they did it and about half the AAV, but yeah they dole out the contracts in a very frustrating way.

I don't know if I mentioned this before as I was really fucking pissed when we missed on the big 3 and can't totally remember what I did and didn't say here. One thing that makes me laugh in hindsight is the Friedman quote from a couple years ago about being practical with FA's and how you will end up always in 3rd on them if you are. This Dodgers FO's biggest FA signings of starpower have been retaining their own in Jansen, Hill and Turner. Of those 3, it was publicly leaked that Jansen turned down more money from the Nats and Marlins to come back to the Dodgers. Turner said he turned down more money to remain with the club and while it has never been said who it was, the belief is the Cards had a bigger offer on the table for him. Hill apparently never gave anyone else a shot as he preferred to remain in LA. So this FO warned us that they were going to be restrained on every FA, we just interpreted it in a way that we thought they would not be when the time called for it.

I want to say that I do not hate this FO as they have built a perennial contender, but the last 14 months has murdered a lot of goodwill they had built up. I don't know if they realize, or fucking care, the shit storm that would come their way if they sit on their hands this offseason. They may have great clubhouse culture, but what the local media will do to them if they don't improve and if they slide at all during the season, could be more detrimental to this club than the FO is even aware of. You can not say that you are going to have serious turnover and then bring every mother fucker back that was on the roster 7 days after the season ended. That will cause a severe uneasiness in the clubhouse of dudes thinking they could be gone at any moment.

The Cubs just learned first hand what can happen when a clubhouse starts to go, even with immense talent scattered around that dugout. Riding into another season as is with a number of players now looking over their shoulders could mean for a rocky road ahead.

There are really no potential moves left that excite me. Maybe I am bias, but it seems teams ask for way more from the Dodgers than other teams when it comes to trades. That is why acquiring elite talent in free agency was so important and we failed. This offseason has been a huge dud.

The assets are there to put a deal together for one of the best players in the game (Lindor). Make this shit happen Friedman.

Toss in another asset and get Clevinger, too while you're at it.

That's the best possible move left but I bet it doesn't happen. We'll hear that the Indians asked for way too much and then the Indians will turnaround and trade Lindor to someone else for some B prospects.

    • Yoenis Cespedes will see his 2020 base salary drop from $29.5MM to just $6MM, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. However, he’ll still be able to reach the $20MM threshold through an incentive package worth $14MM.

And T-minus 2 weeks until the " Seager's in the best shape of his life " and " Lux is the GOAT " narratives take flight.

With DK getting 3 years I believe the market had now officially been set for Ryu. If he wants 4 years, he cannot expect 20 million per.
