Dodgers: Kennedy's loss affects infield After aggravating a right groin strain Friday night, Adam Kennedy is probably lost for the remainder of the season, Mattingly said before Saturday's game. "I think it's pretty bad," said Mattingly. "He hasn't had an MRI, but he felt something pop. Nothing's definitive, but I don't know if there's a chance for him to play again this year. It doesn't sound very good." Luis Cruz was back in the lineup for Saturday's game, and Mattingly said right-handed hitter Juan Uribe and switch-hitter Nick Punto become the backups at third base and second base with Kennedy out.
Punto is better defensively but cannot hit a lick. Kennedy's swing is irritating but he did pretty well against RHP. This isn't a good thing but oh well. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over this.
agreed hairston was a much greater loss... http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=20781073&c_id=la
