Wish we had Freeman, Goldie, Votto, or Abreu at 1B. Bellinger is truly shit. Cut from the same cloth as Clayton (choker) with about half the talent and intelligence.
Great play by Yasiel. Bellinger would still be smoking a blunt on 3B right now...if he even managed to get on base.
CT3 A fringe .800 OPS guy who can play multiple positions is nothing to complain about...but I will just to stay on brand. Without that .370 babip and playing pretty suspect defense, I'd be suprised if he puts up much more than half of his 2017 WAR. Strikeout % has stayed the same but still feels too often. Really should've taken advantage when he was putting up a .288 BA/.360+ OBP and slugging .490. He's pretty normal now. Meh. Fine as a bottom of the order guy but nothing more.
No not 5 but I think he’s a 3-4 win player that can play SS and CF. That essentially makes him a top 5-7 player in baseball at either position. Think he’s a 3-5th best offensive player on a championship team. And I was skeptical of him in the offseason.
I think he's the same player he was last year without everything going right. He's consistent (K% BB %, contact, etc all in line with 2017), but the results are more in line with reality. There's a positive side to the consistency of course. We can confidently say now that he's not a fluke. I said in my initial post that a fringe .800 OPS guy who plays multiple positions is valuable. But it's hard to deny the drop off from spectacular (results wise) to just pretty good. I think he puts up half the WAR he did last year, and with our stars missing or playing poorly (not his fault) that will hurt a bit.
He is a super utility player on a championship team. No way he is a top 3 to 5 player on such a team like someone else said. No way. SS and 2B are supposed to hit homeruns now, its not special if you hit 20 from those spots anymore. Specially if your defense or speed is not elite. He makes a great platoon partner with Joc in CF. And is there in reserve as a starting 2B in case Muncy cant fill the role. Unless Muncy is horrible defensively he is a considerably better option in the lineup. Once Seager is back and not playing SS then Muncy will also become a pinch hitter. CF: Joc/Taylor 3B: Turner SS: Machado LF: Kemp 1B: Bellinger 2B: Muncy or Seager RF: Puig/Kike C : Grandal/Barnes
Just wondering...is the " championship" team that keeps getting mentioned in the newest guy that sucks arguments the LAD? Or a generic champ team? For me as a traditionalist, I still hang with the old faithful, nauseatingly disappointing Logan Forsythe. He makes CT look like Mickey Mantle.
