I hate losing just as much as the next guy, but the manager isn't going to win or lose the World Series, more or less even get you there. The players have to perform. Kershaw needs to do what Bumgarner did, Greinke needs to follow suit, we need the offense to come through and score runs against these elite teams. I can understand if Don totally just screws us over in a game with terrible managing, but both times in the postseason that hasn't been the problem. It's been the players, 100%. I know everyone on this site is all over Bochy's balls, but the fact is they've won on great pitching, timely hitting, and yes, luck. Timely hitting is something that can definitely sway one end of the spectrum to the other. But some people will say "but wait, what about his GOAT bullpen management!" Their bullpen is fucking good. That's it.
i hear what you guys are saying but let's be honest... everything is a crapshoot luck is going to be involved in almost anything you do and, yes, the best team doesn't always win (hence the "that's why they play the game" saying) but don't you still do everything else in your power to give yourself the best chance to succeed? kersh melting down in game 1 of last year's nlcs was not dbb's fault -- but leaving him in to give up (ultimately) 7 runs in the 7th before taking him out was a manager has to know his players well enough to recognize when they're not sharp and/or tiring -- especially on a hotter than normal day and learn from those type of experiences, and not repeat the same type of mistakes? (see jim johnson giving up 8 runs against the pirates w/jp warming up in the pen) i'm rambling so i'll close with another quote... "it's better to be lucky than good..." let's hope we're both sometime soon in a postseason we all deserve it, young and old
Umm B2B you're kind of being a douche about now... ..last word and all being waaaaaay out of line, pussy ass name calling being unnecessary... (yes I said that to make You smile) You did have a valid point early on, that I grant, but... now you're waaaaay carried away... an understatement. and I don't even care about the topic Chill man ... .. nobody wants to hang with someone being a douche Argue with someone else ... ...less personally better for your blood pressure
So it was 6-2 going into that inning. they made it 6-4, two outs, bases loaded for Carpenter, and he gave up the 3 run double. He comes out, Grichuk gets on and Holliday seals it with a 3 run bomb. Mattingly didn't trust the pen enough to relieve Kershaw. Although it turns out, other than Baez, they weren't bad in that game.
It's probably not possible to disagree more with you. I guess this is a full 180... No sense going at it piece by piece, but I will comment about being "all over Bochy's balls"...you don't see him as a superior manager and bb man? Especially compared to DBB? C'mon...you're kidding right?
4 straight hits (and 5 to the first 6 hitters) to start the 7th should have been a sign not trusting the bullpen is one thing, but it was pretty apparent kersh was gassed
No thanks. Cut him some slack. He's got a lot on his mind. He's troubled with his Halloween costume of choice. https://www.thewrap.com/caitlyn-jen...rks-internet-outrage-disgraceful-transphobic/
I disagree with all that you have there and I'll leave it at that regarding the name calling. More than anything, though, no offense, but I'm too old to be told what to do.
