I disagree. I think Maeda should be used as a starter during the regular season. Bullpen in October (if we ever get there again)
I have a newfound respect for teams like the Yankees and Cardinals. At least they consistently put a competitive product on the field. The Astros and cubs got rewarded for tanking.
Awesome. Is it too soon to say if we perform similarly in AZ that we're fucked? Can JT be Captain Save-A Ho?
Joc should be starting and leading off at least vs RHonuntil CT3 gets his mojo back. And by that I mean actually swing at 2 strike pitches and not stand there like a dumb ass. Joc’s Line so far this year? .286/.403 Bet you weren’t expecting that, and 11 walks compared to only 9 k’s. Taylor has struck out LOOKING 18 times so far this year
Wasn't expecting that particular line, but I damn well wanted Joc starting and trying to build off his WS performance. But of course, they had to go and bring McCourt's baby back and have him hold LF hostage and what not, backsliding LAD. Fuck it, go ahead and bring AJ Ellis back and Uribe too..all the old faves. Where's Cory Wade? They should've let this Kemp shit die. Got rid of that MF and went to the WS, FFS. But they opened the door and evoked the spirit and now it's back to shitsville..back to 2011 where Kemp hits and they lose. Need to get back to the future and let this old shit die. I feel like Brad Hawpe is in Colorado, waiting to hit 4 home runs per game against us
... Roberts benches Bellinger, cites lack of hustle by Pedro Gomez | ESPN — 7:15 pm PT The Los Angeles Dodgers' lackluster start to the 2018 campaign is starting to show visible leakage, with the latest example coming during Los Angeles' 4-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Sunday. Dave Roberts pulled last year's rookie of the year, Cody Bellinger, in the fifth inning for what the manager described as a lack of hustle. "I felt there wasn't hustle on the play -- the ball that he hit 421 feet into right-center field, and he cruised into second base," Roberts told reporters, referring to a ball Bellinger smacked into the area called Triples Alley. "He plays every day, and there's certain expectations for the way we have to play the game. When you don't abide by that, we'll get somebody in there that will. It's pretty simple." After losing three of four to the Giants, the Dodgers' record stands at 12-15. They are seven games behind the National League West-leading Arizona Diamondbacks, against whom the Dodgers play four games starting Monday. For his part, Bellinger said after the game that he was unaware of the reason for the surprise benching. "I got in the dugout, and he said I was out of the game," Bellinger told reporters after the game. "I didn't know any reason. Just put on my jacket, went up to the railing and watched the game. I've always played the game hard. I kind of took a big swing on the curveball, ended up on my knee. We're down four runs. I'm not trying to make an out on the bases going to third. He saw what he saw. It's all good. I'm never going to dog that. Obviously, it's 'Triples Alley.' That's what they call it. We're down four. ... That was my reasoning. ... It was his decision. I can't say anything against it." For a star-studded club that has won the NL West the past five years, this might be Roberts' way of sending a message to everyone on the roster that the club's record is simply unacceptable. "Yeah, it could have been," Bellinger said. "Like I said, I'm always hustling to beat out ground balls. I feel like I'm always hustling. I don't know -- it just kind of didn't make sense to me. But I get it as well. He's trying to prove a point. Being the young guy, I got to hustle."
Benching the kid for not hustling, on a team full of bonehead plays and soon after the Barnes stupendous fuckup going to third, makes about as much sense that the reason we suck now is because of Kemp. When I think of non hustle, Bellinger doesn't come to mind, that is for sure. I guess Dave is an error of commission, not omission, kind of guy or something. The blue zoo is at full throttle...
oh fuck you dave. screams of 'im a manager, let me do something to prove im doing my job' type of bullshit this is the kind of shit that other players look at and lose respect for the manager i hope this dude and his 5 inning starters bullshit gets canned dave sounds like a great guy, but this and the shit he pulled with puig and how he pulls guys like Hill when they are rolling is annoying as fuck. this team is full of lions but they are being managed by a pussycat. gotta let the lions roar
seriously 100% Kemp is not the problem. Bellinger is definitely not the problem. CF: Joc SS: Seager LF: Kemp 1B: Bellinger C : Grandal 2B: Kike 3B: Utley RF: Verdugo Obviously Turner is not back but he is a solid veteran you can count on. Until Puig, Taylor, Barnes show that they belong in the regular lineup they should sit.
It wasn't the first time (according to Bellinger) that his effort was called into question. Stupid plays like Barnes made are much different that a lack of effort. I say good for Dave and Bellinger wants to pout about it, fuck him.
"A team of lions" doesn't roll over every time the great Ty Blach takes the hill. "Shit he pulled with Puig?" Give me a break.
I know very well it is a different animal from Barnes stupidity...and maybe Bellinger does dog it, idk. I'd like to see the tape of Bellinger's dogging it, evidently not only yesterday. I just don't see it at all, and I don't see pouting at all. In fact , I thought he responded quite well and maturely. Whatever is going on, regardless of differing opinions here, the product on the field and the guy pushing the buttons for it, are dismal failures to date. All this shit is an unwelcome additional weakness within the team structure, and a further indication of disharmony, imo. If the reigning RoY dogs it, and it's nothing new, then Dave takes a big share of blame for not already fixing it internally.
