I thought Harper just signed a monster extension. I don't think he will ever leave Washington until he's physically done a la Puljos.
on the day when turner became the the mlb leader in batting average Ryan M. Spaeder ✓@theaceofspaeder 4 hours ago #Dodgers Justin Turner is batting .322/.378/.553 over his last 135 games played. Let's hope it is just a cramp.
HORRIBLE that Justin hurt, like a punch in the stomach let's hope he'll only be out for a short time but in the meantime at least they won't have to make a decision on Taylor/Utley when Logan returns. Wonder if Corey takes over as the 3rd place hitter.
And a little alopecia, unfortunately. They just said he gets a hammy MRI on Friday...so if it is a hamstring, then a DL stint is imminent, but at least he returns. Fingers crossed. We could get through this fairly well if others like Joc actually get a hit now and then; the corresponding moves should be interesting behind this misfortune. The ying and yang of it for me is, Kenley looks otherworldly... as dominant as possible numerically. It must be that from the CF angle we get, it looks like it's straight, right down Broadway, but AB, it sure must be doing something intimidating. Baseball...what a concept.
Yeah pretty much a short term way for them to make Harper happy. Smart on their behalf, but ultimately we know DC will still have to come correct after next season. Not to say they won´t..they might, but a lot of pundits are expecting him to bolt. I still can´t see Harper as a fit with NYY..a clean shaven, less rock star/more buttoned up Harper? I don´t recognize that person. I think Trout is NYY´s guy the 1st chance he gets to leave the Halos, and then of course he´s from Jersey. Harper´s the west coast kid, rock star. But imagine that potential World Series in a few years..NYY led by Trout/Machado/Judge/Sanchez VS LAD led by Harper/Seager/Bellinger/Urias. A little more fun than thinking about JT´s injury. Here´s hoping that when JT returns, his HR pop returns with him. One positive that could come out of this is that we may not have to worry about JT stunting on the basepaths for the rest of the year
Yesterday was something else from Kenley. I kept saying it but it seemed like he was just fucking around with the Marlins by throwing strikes down the plate and daring them to try and hit his natural movement
that would be a great scenario wonder if its possible for him to continue facing live pitching and not running to keep that swing in order
Yes, great fun to "think" about that...the mind is capable of conjuring all sorts of fantastic scenarios. This is coming when...when Wash and LAA lets them walk? Those matchups, right now anyway, seem like the big Yankee boys against the smaller Dodger boys, imo. I guess we'll be dreaming on that WS, and getting Bryce now as we did when we knew when Puig came, the ring was ours; so then, when Joc came up, the championship's in LA. Then when Corey came, it was surely definitely happening. And Julio and Kemp and Manny and the best pitcher on earth and the second best one with him and blah, blah, redux. After a while, your brain asks you," how much fun is this again" ? Might be why we are all so passionate about lowest ERA, and most wins, and MVPs, and most saves, and being elite and depth and how the FO fucked another team by trading away an eventually no better than average guy for whomever... Do we have anything else ?
Sucks that Turner is probably down, though im hoping we get lucky; "Talking to the training staff briefly, the strength was there still, which is positive,'' Roberts said. That said, the positive here is that if Turner is placed on the DL, Taylor is not sent down when Forsythe is activated.
Great minds yadda yadda but I wrote this very thing in an earlier post about Chris. It's bad that we continue to have injuries but the Nerds have to be commended for having the depth and versatility to possibly withstand this latest injury. Almost zen like that it seems that when a rehabbing guy is ready to comeback there is a player getting hurt, kind of feels like density.
The 1-year contract Harper just got is pretty meaningless, basically they just got their arbitration deal over early. As far as whether or not Harper will leave Washington, all we need to know is that his agent is Scott Boras. Which means he almost certainly goes to free agency and once he's a FA the conversation starts and ends with who offers the most money.
As frustrating as it is to lose a key piece, it really is relieving knowing that there are still more bullets in the chamber that could likely put up better than replacement player value at a key position. Granted, if Turner and Forsythe are out for an extended time it's weak, but say they are both down for a while and something happens to either Utley or Taylor. There is still Keykay or the organizations top hitting prospect to come fill the hole at 2B. Hopefully we do not hit that scenario, but it is nice knowing that if one of these guys falters or gets hurt, there are still more options. The one position on the club where we are truly in trouble if an injury occurred is SS as it is where we are noticeably thin after Seager, Taylor and Keykay. In the same train of thought, the FO has not built that at the upper levels yet, but they are doing what they can to fill that up better in the next year with Jackson, Lux, Estevez and Brito in the pipeline.
Its a ton of fun. I know you cant understand it. For you its misery. The most valuable thing in the world to have is hope. That is because hope is something that if you neglect it goes away. And then nothing ever is good again unless its perfect. Removing hope kills the journey. And without the road there is no destination. I like tp travel.
It would be interesting to see if Seager could play 3b while Turner is out. I doubt MGT messes around like that but if Lux is as good as everyone believes, the change might need to be a necessity.
