I agree, except I like us in a 7-game series against anyone. Throwing CK out there potentially 3 times is insane. Add ZG twice and we look REALLY good in a 7-game series.
doesn't even really matter at this point..i mean in terms of catching Washington. their schedule is easy peazy and the Dodgers have fucked around too much. we are where we are and that needs to hold up..we don't need to start the NLDC in StLouis
I just hope the Cards don't lose first to the Pirates. The Pirates are a more dangerous team IMO, given the way they're playing right now and have played us earlier this year.
i see PIT as a dangerous squad as well. i beware of the teams from the central a bit more than the east in general. not that tha Nats aren't to be respected, but they're just barely starting to get over the hump against the Braves and i have to downgrade you if you've largely struggled against the Braves over the last couple years. Braves are garbage.
Yeah, I've reading/hearing about Z & CK pitching 5X in a 7 game series, but am I the only one who is wondering if we did get to the series, wouldn't we still need two pitchers with their arms attached? Just wondering. Imagine if we had a BP? As soon as we clinch, (if we do) I think Jansen needs to pitch as little as possible. Like rest, man. If we win tonight, I wouldn't even let him throw in the CO series.
If we are going to win it all, it might have to be 2001 Diamondbacks situation when Johnson/Schilling pitched a combined 5 starts, 39 innings, and all 4 wins in the World Series.
Great minds think alike. I was thinking this exact thing today. I'm reminded of this team at least once a month during the baseball season and to be honest it was pretty damn impressive what those 2 accomplished in that series. Randy Johnson pitched game 6 and came in in relief of schilling in game 7 and got the W. I could see CK and ZG doing something similar.
Not to diminish your excellent point, but I just don't feel that Greinke is either of these two horses you mentioned on the Dbacks back in the day. Clayton probably can match up with one or the other, being a bigass Texas horse himself, but I don't know about Zack. Johnson was a freak of nature, as we all know...a real freak, not a Timmeh type. I'm not saying he's weak or fading, but I don't see him going that much, for that long. There's what comes before the WS, too...and that's gotta be factored in. Actually, in a complete reversal, the way he is throwing right now, I think Haren is viable whenever.
