Dude can play, huh? Think he makes the opening day roster if Grandal and obviously Ethier are out? Oh btw, can people just accept the Dee Gordon trade was at the very least even? Barnes, Kike, Hatcher, and Howie (basically)...looks pretty good to me!
Dee is the best player involved in that trade yet the 4 players the Dodgers got are better for the team overall. This is simplistic but, without the trade our set up guy is Baez? Backup catcher is Drew Butera? And Elian Herrera or Charlie Culberson is our big backup player
I would amend this to say 'Dee is the best player involved in that trade for the first year...' It remains to be seen if his success will continue.
Well he was an all star his last year with us. We ALL thought we sold high on him and he came back and had a great year. I'd still do that trade but would have held onto Heany.
That's just wrong and straight up misinformation. Sure his BA dropped from .338 to .327 after the all-star break, but that's hardly a sharp decline, and at those levels, I think all of us would take that from any current Dodger. His OPS actually improved after the all-star break, and he cut down on his strikeouts dramatically. I'd argue he got BETTER after the break. He hit .412 in October, and .343 in September. You know how consistent he was last season? Here are some facts: Gordon recorded ABs in 7 months of the year, and hit .300+ in 6 of those months. The only month he struggled was the month he injured his thumb sliding into second. That slump didn't last long (hence the batting title). Gordon hit .327 against righties. He hit .350 against lefties Gordon hit .333 at home. He hit .333 on the road. To lead off an inning, he hit .327. With RISP, he hit .325 p.s. He won a gold glove. You can say he was shit here, and that's why you don't like him. That's fine. You can say you don't think he will do it again, because you dont like him, that's fine too. But don't throw shade on his amazing season by spreading misinformation just because you dont like him. He was one of the most consistent players in baseball last year, and probably more consistent than any position player we had on our own squad. p.s. I'm excited about Barnes. I hope he beats out AJ eventually.
I actually really liked Dee. I think we all thought we sold high on him which is why for me, I wasn't all that upset when we traded him for the haul we got. But maybe he had a pretty dang good season with us and parlayed that into a damn GREAT season which will be what he brings each season... Time will tell but I still like what we got in that deal.
pretty much agree liked dee, but i liked the return we got i miss the element he provided, particularly the speed (now missing) but we really won't know for a couple more years if it was a good swap or not
