    This will sound racist, but I don't intend it to be...

    No, that is not the dream, that is the perception of the dream. The actual dream (of the minorities) is to have all the freedoms, equalities, and entitlements of WASPS while maintaining and living in their own cultures and neighborhoods. The simple truth is that if all races were on equal footing (social, financial, and any other way) then MOST within those minorities would prefer to live with their own race/culture. Sure some would seek a balanced neighborhood, but the majority want to live in the comfort of their own culture and values. I am NOT suggesting for a second that economic and social issues are NOT the reason for segregated communities that exist. I am suggesting that if the magic wand was waved today and everyone was a social and economic equal that segregation would continue largely unchanged.

    IMO, the 'dream' is for acceptance and equal opportunity for all, not integration in itself.

    Oh, I am white in case you weren't wondering.

    You think slavery was eradicated with Jim Crow and forced integration?
    Ever been to a prison?
    Slavery and segregation just fine there.
