My guess is IF they do decide to move him, he is either sent to the AL in the off season or some second tier team in the NL unless a team like the Rockies, D'Backs or Nats wildly overpay. The catching talent on the FA market is shit right now and he would be a likely fallback option for a team that doesn't land Iannetta.

There is a 9 million dollar option on Logan's deal so I wouldn't be surprised if they put Barnes at 2nd and have Farmer as a back-up to Yasmani.

a lot of options to consider
could also let barnes catch and put charlie at 2b
or maybe not exercise logan's option and try to re-sign him for less
nice to have the depth (options) they've preached since day one

Don't see Charlie in the plans but maybe when or if Chase retires he'll be the next super utility?

    perhaps
but wasn't long ago you could have said the same about (now) co-mvp's taylor and turner
in fact, iirc taylor wasn't even part of this year's plans until tolles went down

hard to ignore how charlie's filled in this postseason and not gotten overwhelmed by the big stage
did you see that play he made on contreras in the 2nd inning yesterday?
guy would be a starter on most other mlb teams

I did and it was great but he's an ex gnat!!! :D He hasn't had a great career or has been a high end guy but on this team he's a fantastic role player.

Whatever was going wrong with Jonathan Lucroy the first half of last year may be ok by next.
And whatever team takes a flyer on him might get super lucky if he returns to form completely.
He looked real good again with the Rockies. They are gonna want to keep them and that makes them even better.
If the Nationals want to spend the dough they can upgrade quick.

    lucroy is an average receiver
and he sucked offensively for the bulk of 2016 in texas
he hit .310/.429/.437 in 46 games in colorado, which is akin to .260 anywhere else
imo his best years are behind him

I think Lucroy is gonna be out there too, not coming off the best year, but could represent some value thanks to that. I like the fit between Philly and LAD..LAD still maybe having interest in Cesar Hernandez. He played very well gain

Not the only problem, but he was one of them and it's always easiest to fire the manager
Like CKWG said, Dusty has no GD clue in how to manage in the postseason
His everyday lineup with that bum Werth batting 2nd " because he sees a lot of pitches " was some old school trash
They have more to do though..starting with either trading Gio or at least making it so he never starts another post season game

    manager always takes the blame
but you (and ckwg) are right, he was part of the problem -- a big part of it
i don't like the way the nationals are constructed...
and that's a compliment to our guys
you want to have each player understanding they are (one) part of the (entire) team
i honestly believe that's what we have, and it's what can happen when a guy like kiké gets a shot
we tease joc all the time (i know i do), but to see how genuinely giddy he was for kiké -- one of the guys who essentially took his spot -- was really cool
nats -- at least to me -- appear to be just the opposite...
for the most part, a bunch of guys playing for themselves, who just happen to play for the same team
getting rid of dusty is a start... and i'll just leave it there

Every time Dusty Baker gets fired I have the same thought... "meh".

He will get another job, make the team look good in the regular season....and fail miserably in the post season. Rinse and repeat.

I swear I don’t know how some coaches get permanent employment like this.

Because most managers aren't nearly as successful as Dusty in the regular season.

Most managers aren’t handed nearly as good teams as he has been throughout his career.

Both were extremely good and talented when he came in.

Let’s also not forget that he basically made it his top mission to destroy Prior and Wood as soon as possible.
