Also, to throw any kind of real money at a reliever is really just a bad move in general (especially for this reliever, IMO). They are incredibly fickle...dominant one year and mediocre to awful the next.

I also don't get the hype around him and this talk of a $100m contract? The guy is not THAT good, not even close. Sure he has had some dominant years, but he has also had some very pedestrian years (2022, 2020) and he's approaching the wrong side of 30.

Also, if you thought our boy Kenley walked a lot of guys...Hader takes that to the next level. Every inning he pitches will be an adventure because of all the free baserunners. He'll make Kenley look like Greg Maddux in terms of walk rate lol

For me it'd be a hard no on Craig Krumbel 2.0.

Evan Phillips on PEDs is my answer...or one of those rookies last year for an inning...sounds doable to me for sure.

BREAKING: Outfielder Teoscar Hernández and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in agreement on a one-year, $23.5 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Hernández joins Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow on the new-look Dodgers, who add another All-Star bat to the lineup.

    friedman strikes again

    Jeff Passan✓@JeffPassan
Of the $23.5 million in Teoscar Hernández's deal with the Dodgers, $8.5 million will be deferred, to be paid out from 2030 to 2039, sources tell ESPN. The corner-outfield market is tough, and Hernández opted for a big one-year deal with the best team over other multiyear offers.

Dodgers usually go after those type of all or nothing hitters. I absolutely hate that batting approach too.

he now doesn't really have room for consistent playing time other than relieving guys at a bunch of different positions.

Yeah, and they also kept Jansen around, with his personalized logo'd clothing and gilded shoes naming the entire state after himself while blowing saves, so go figure.

    The Feast or Famine Dodgers.
Too bad they couldn't get a superior manager, like uh...say...Grady Little caliber to push these elite buttons...or check another woke box and hire any female announcer.
    Or a fan.
    Or an Australian Sheepdog...

I hope The Scarecrow doesn't have visions of platooning Teoscar and CT. Looking at their splits, I don't see any real advantage in doing so. Hernandez' numbers are a little better against LHP than against RHP, but the same could be said for Taylor. At this point, CT should be a bench-first utility player, spot-starting only or late game substitution... or injury fill-in.

As far as Margot, I can't imagine what his role will be on this team.

    A few thoughts...

Glad to see that Teoscar turned down multi-year deals to sign with Dodgers for one season. That tells me he wants to be here, and also that he will have incentive for a strong campaign to increase his value for next offseason. Seems like all our big acquisitions this winter had specifically wanted to play in LA. I'm sure team chemistry will be off the charts - expect a new dugout dance. Just hope I'm wrong to doubt that The Scarecrow can reign it all in and keep complacency under control.

If Lux can get the momentum back that he seemed to have going into last season before the injury, I could see him being the Dodgers first #9 hitter to score 100 runs. At least that's where all the projections seem to have him batting in the lineup.

Heyward at #8 looks a lot better to me than Heyward at #4-6.

Brasier pitched in 39 games last year after we got him and gave up 3 runs. Re-sign him!

#Dodgers remain firmly in the mix to re-sign veteran reliever Ryan Brasier, a 36-year-old right-hander who should have a fairly robust market after going 2-0 with an 0.70 ERA in 39 games as a setup man for Evan Phillips last season.

    • Facing a Jan. 11 deadline to sign with an MLB team, Shōta Imanaga's list of suitors is coming into focus. Per Jon Heyman of MLB Network and the New York Post, the Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox are among the five teams believed to still be "in play" for the Japanese left-hander. Heyman noted the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Angels appear to be out of the running.
