Shooting way above the belt line. The players are just jockeying for the new CBA. They are going to play like they are not going to accept lower deals across the board so that when negotiations start, they will come out swinging. If they relented and accepted lower deals, they maybe be showing their hand too soon.

Had the skills to be one of the all-time greats, but alas was limited by his smarts.

I think it's fair to request 4/100. Of course he knows it's not going to happen. Not even pre Covid

I hate how everyone keeps saying DJL is 32. He's actually 31. I hate it when people start using the age a player will be during next season to try to bury them. Every player will be a year older next season. Let's stop moving the goal posts.

I've always thought it spoke volumes when no teammates came to his defense after the Molly Knight book.

Is what it is. Would definitely feel better about it all if he were the guy that dealt with knickknack injuries here and there but ultimately raked in OCT on a consistent basis. Can remember when Boras elected not to wait and try to get Strasburg to the open market because of all the health related stuff that Stras was going through early in his career. And Stras would have been the biggest name on the open market arm wise had he gotten there. But the Nats presented a decent enough extension and Boras leapt for it. Don't see that a lot. Same aggression could be applied here with Seager given his issues with durability, but with a pretty deep SS market next offseason should AF/Guggs even go out of their way to look to extend the sort of extension that would interest Boras?

Can also remember when homegrown/injury prone Ellsbury came in 2nd for AL MVP ( should have won)..then had nice run in the postseason not long after, helping Boston win the WS. Sox let him go to NYY. They weren't fooled. Think we know who regrets that deal. Yankee fans wanted to strangle Ellsbury annually. And of course Ellsbury was a Boras guy. Obviously hope for the best with Seager, but he smells a little like Ellsbury

NYY reportedly feels confident that Lemahieu will stay put and he should. He's a career sub-.700 OPS guy away from hitter's havens Coors/NYY stadium. He can stay there and do a lot of good, actually earn his $

But there's been a lot of smoke between he and LAD....potentially a leverage ploy given that he lived in Visalia for a time and can throw out the ole " I'd like to play in Cali " BS to needle NYY

Turner and Kersh actually put him in a headlock on his way out so Puig had a few bullets to dodge as he hit the door. Once he was out, guys could finally get brutally honest to the public

Team's culture wasn't strong enough at the time to raise Puig. As much as it's his fault, Dodgers failed him as well, but it's hard to even get too mad at the club because they were just trying to find it's footing after McCourt's disastrous/embarrassing run and exit. Just wasn't strong enough. McGwire talked about it not too long ago..city of Los Angeles got it's hooks into him, Vin gave him that nickname, and he was gone

I'm a big DJL fan. I love a guy who makes as much contact as he does. He has hit for average in every park.
DJL is an absolute elite hitter whether he's hitting home runs or not. Yes New York has a short porch but he wasn't popping up into the stands. He screams line drives. That translates everywhere.
The dodgers have loads of power. They can use some of what DJL brings. Play him at second and third. When he's at second you can put Rios at 3b for extra pop.

No big deal..he actually turns 33 midway through next season

The big deal..this is a guy that's asking for a 5 year deal

Horses for courses. The sort of money that a nearly 33yr old Lemahieu is asking for, he should get in a place where he'll continue to slug. 5yrs/$100MM+ can be better spent by the LAD

Would feel better about him if he had a noteworthy postseason resume to back him, but that hasn't translated either. 101 plate appearances over 7 career postseason series - .272/.340/.424 Postseason power arms blow a hole through this guy's bat. It's cool to root for him, though, we all have our faves

I'm operating under the assumption that his requests are just that. Requests. I'm fine with giving him 20 million but not for 5 years. Not even for 4 years.

This year is different. The money isn't there. If he wants 2019 money then forget it.

The biggest reason I want DjL is because he is the next Turner. Heart and soul guy. Clubhouse dude. Younger, versatile, elite defender.

We cannot sign Turner. Not even at what he was making last year.

Yeah I don't see it. Lemahieu's going on 33. By 33 Turner already had 4 straight years of all time elite postseason work under his belt. Appreciate his glovework though

Lemahieu's also always been a baby faced fella that fits in better with the NYY culture for that reason as well. They're confident that he's staying and I'm hoping he does

BTW, there's no next Turner coming from the outside of the org this offseason. Just said he's been arguably the best hitter the Dodgers have employed since moving to LA. What are the odds they add someone like this?

Don't think many would be calling Turner the heart of Dodgers with as much gusto if he weren't doing GOAT things on the field..nobody really cares that much about a bum. Been reported for a while now that Kike is done as a Dodger and he's a clubhouse culture guy..but a bum so it's like who cares and see ya later

What am I missing. How has he been arguably the best LA Dodgers hitter?
