The best player on the team got a new deal in january.

Look, if it happens, great. If not, I hope Ramirez has a year such that he earns an 8/200+ deal.

It's obvious he's our key to the entire year but he hasn't been real healthy and not getting younger so I'm sure Guggs is just waiting to see how healthy he is before extending him. Just a guess.

you see?...and heeeeeere we go. they put Hanley's extension off for so long that now Jeter's made it clear that NY will be shopping for a SS next year. so if you think you hate the Yankees now...if the Dodgers don't get Hanley signed soon and he tests free agency, you'll REALLY hate the Yankees next off-season. and you should probably have a little hate left over for our front office because it'll be their fault if he does leave for NY. with so much inactivity for us this past winter, in terms of bringing in new faces to the big league level, they had plenty of time to get Hanley's deal done. now Hanley has real leverage.

And especially after the early returns on the Matt Kemp extension have worked so well.

DD makes a pretty good case for it--RIGHT NOW.

I can see where some of you guys are coming from about his health issues, wanting to wait. Especially after the lesson we learned from Kemp. However, Hanley isn't Kemp. Hanley plays either left side infield spot and is a better hitter, who is also trending up. That being said, maybe the Dodgers have so much money that they are willing to spend more money if it helps protect the overall investment. Honestly, I would expect him to be signed soon. A good year from Hanley does seem like a decent bet.

here's a guy who hit leadoff in Miami and had no real protection behind him...and he STILL won a batting title. he's got the 5th highest OPS EVER for a shortstop between the ages 22-29. his eye at the plate>>>>>>>>>>>>Kemp's and it's not even close really.

now, you put Hanley in a lineup with protection both in front and behind him and pitchers have to deal with him? if he's healthy, it's a walk in the park for Hanley.

    Chillax bKitches.....

Walter publicly stated he wants him here so, unless there is a health issue we don't know about, no one will be able to "Steal" him from us.
