GAME THREAD Cincinnati Reds vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (August 13th - 16th)

It seems to me, if you see what you see on the field, then pretty much, that is what the guy is doing. What he did with whatever team, whenever, means shit if he blows for us, plain and simple. It only makes somewhat of an excuse for the FO for acquiring him, even when better pitchers were available. Y'know... cost effective and all that shit.
Oh, there's that Olivera thing. Better we gave his $ to one of the rentals, it would seem...who cares if we win the WS with rentals? So what?
Oh, the future uber alles? This is the future.
While we pay out 80 M + for guys not to play for us.
I think the one saving grace there is, is that the SFags are not that great, but you can't overlook what Bochy can do with a lesser team; the guy's a magician. If they don't spark up like they normally do late in the season, get way high as before, we may take the division in spite of ourselves.
But we are going to have to do that to be in the post I believe. The WCs lie elsewhere.
And right now, with the SP as it is, and one of the worst BP in MLB, sporadic offenses much of the time, we are in a position to lose it, not win it.

 

I don't know about Nats fans, but that franchise is relatively new. They don't have a championship background of any kind. Even if you go back to the Expos days. Anything they do is gravy until they win one.

Yankees and Giants shouldn't be in this comparison. Yes they expect to win........BUT.....they have won.....ALOT, and not that long ago. They have already had the "win now" so they can rebuild to win "for the next 10 years", which is probably why they didn't make any big trade deadline moves. But also, look at the results of that situation. Blue Jays (who made the trades) are hot. Yanks not. Giants are behind in both the wildcard and division race.

 

Vegas odds? WTF do they prove?
Over the last 27 years, how many times have we been odds-on favorites or near the top to win it all?

Amazing...isn't it great to know that we've got a team player like Matt?
I'm still out on Wood; his mechanics look like he could be headed for a Dontrelle Willis -like mechanical breakdown sooner than later...who knows?
And so far, what I see from these two meatballers, Johnson and Avilan, I'm pretty flaccid over the whole FO " genius"....

BP has got to be prepared today, and Donnie has to make quick decisions. He should have seen enough. Nothing to be gained by giving Woods a chance to recover. He won't.
