So no Zu tonight VS Celtics. Highly doubt Muscala will be available..already know Bullock won't play. Chandler and Javale tonight at the 5..going to be very interesting to see how much time Javale gets because I could see him being bought out if Deandre Jordan hits the buyout market. Probably a tryout game for Hart and KCP as well..because Bullock is getting somebody's minutes when he lands
Seems like a stupid move. I get that Zubac type centers are not the thing in the NBA nowadays but the kid is 21, let him work on his 3pt shooting in the offseason and in a few years he could be this guy. The last month Zu has averaged 12 pts/6rpg, Conversely Muscala has averaged 7pts/4rpg. I get it, they need a Center to be able to hit the 3, just wish they would not have given up on the 21yr old.

Zu's been in the league for 3 or 4 years now and hasn't expanded his range, but that's besides the real focus of him not being able to move his feet well enough and switch defensively. Credit him for shedding the lbs. over the years, but it didn't translate. As I told you the other day, in today's game they're just valuing defensive fits and guys that can set screens and roll to the basket. What Zu does in the post just isn't valued by the winners in this league anymore. That's really all there is to it. I like Zu and will miss the kid, but I understand what they're going for..of course, you can be mad, but he gone
You see how many guys are in that deal? That's because Marc Gasol is making more than $24M this season. How are you beating what Toronto offered with what LAL has to offer?
He'll be 22 in March and has finally getting his minutes so to me to give up on him at this point is stupid. In PT terms he's barely into his 2 year and is he really worse than the guy we got in the trade? What value was added here to off set what we sent away. I get that this could just be a case of opening up a roster spot for another player but really? IMHO this wreaks of panic.
Well, Rondo/Stevenson/Beasley/Zubac would work $$ wise. But the trade would also work if it was Rondo/Beasley/Zubac/Bonga/Wagner. MGT could have gotten there if they wanted to.
Lol Toronto's offer is better than anything you can come up with that actually makes sense AKA doesn't involve any of the young Zo/Kuz/Ingram trio or draft picks that they want to move for AD in the offseason. And Moe is actually a fit for what they want to do at the 5, so moving him would be dumb. And they covet Bonga as well, actually traded for him during the draft. Rondo and the rest of the expiring vets are just that..expirings. Of no use to a team like Memphis that has no plans to be a big player in free agency. Jonas has a player option for next season and will likely be there, and Wright will be there too, so they get actual value from Toronto's offer. You can't just complain about LAL not getting a guy without revealing a solid plan yourself.
Zu has gotten consistent minutes before, so " finally " is out. Granted, he was younger then and he produced then as well. You guys aren't about to make me out as the anti-Zu guy because you don't see what they want from the position. I very well warned Spanky the other day, so I know that if I saw this then, that it couldn't have been a panic move
Pretty sure the Clips won't be Zu's last stop either. He's likely headed for a small market team that has to settle for a big retro-center that can produce on the low block offensively, but is shaky defensively. Some small market team is probably going to pay him well too
Oh no I wouldn't say my post said you were anti-Zubie I was disagreeing with the notion that because it's his 3rd year that he's gotten a real chance to contribute and he hasn't developed. IF this move was to get Melo in here than it's a panic move. Why can't we wait it out why the sudden rush to be in the upper echelon. GS is NOT losing especially with a healthy Cousins. I get it, just saying, explaining what happened here with Zu is probably making me look anti-Zu when I really liked him. Really liked him. But I just knew that, while being very talented on the low block, he was a retro-fit..he had to go just like Lopez had to go..neither able to move their feet well enough to switch and defend multiple positions and that's what it's all about. Dude, the panic move would've been to unload every last young player we have and 8 draft picks for AD.
If Memphis is going to be a player in FA then they would want more cap space......which the first trade of Rondo and Co would make more sense.
