But they are not, and thus, they wanted guys they could move forward with. You can sort of see what Memphis wanted to do by their actions, yes?
Disagree.....rookie year he got an average of 16 MPG and performed to the tune of 7.5ppg/4rpg. Last year his minutes were cut to 9mpg and his stats dipped. Then this year his minutes have gone back up to his rookie year and his scoring has gone up to 8.5ppg/5rpg. So the minute thing is disproven. But I get your point, the NBA Center position has changed and the team and MGT have to change with it. I just think that Gasol would have been a better trade target if they were done with Zu.
He actually got about 20 mpg over the final 2 months of the '16-'17 season and produced pretty well considering his age, especially in spurts. Defense was bad then too though Of course Gasol would've been a better target, but they don't have the pieces to make that deal and then turn around put the best deal on the table for AD. That's why this move for Muscala isn't just an upgrade for what they want from the center position, but also the anti-panic deal
Every team would covet FA money. Miles and Wright could easily be replaced with the $15MM+ in FA money they would have and Vilanciunas would have been replaced with Zubac.
Help me understand, how are the Lakers trading for AD in the summer? The filler contracts (Rondo/Stevenson/Beasley)are gone, unless im missing something.
Also, if LAL wanted to move all the kids for AD, they wouldn't have to touch much of the cap space this summer at all. AD is on the books for $27M next season, LAL can come up with $23M between the kids..$16M alone between Zo and Ingram
So MGT could have dropped all their 1 year deals + Zubac to get Gasol and still made a strong offer of Ball/Hart/Ingram/Kuzma/Picks for AD. Just my opinion but I would have done that instead.
Ivica ZubacVerified account@ivicazubac Playing for the lakers was my dream since I was a little kid. Thanks to @lakers for making my dream happen, I will never forget years that I’ve been a Laker! Brandon RobinsonVerified account@ScoopB Los Angeles Lakers are preferred destination for free agent, Wayne Ellington. “Wayne was definitely unhappy with his decreased role [with Miami Heat] after Dwyane Wade’s return,” a confidant Of Ellington told me. “LA is a preferred destination for him after his last stint there.”
