    - Will post tomorrow, but it is not looking like Otani is going to get posted this year unless something drastically changes. I’ll be honest guys, the chances he comes to LA are EXTREMELY minescule. There are rumors circulating that there are AL teams that will give him a shot at DH’ing.

    - Darvish said he lost his passion for baseball with the Rangers, but the Dodgers re-lit the fire and he wants to resign with the club. We’ll see how he feels after checking his twitter mentions and hears his name being thrown around over the coming weeks. His pitch tipping has been an ongoing issue throughout his career, so if the club doesn’t think he can fix it, he’s certainly of no use in a playoff atmosphere.

    - TrueBlueLA tweeted tonight that Urias will not likely return to game action until August of next season. That...that’s bad.

    - Morrow is hoping to return to the club next season. He was absolute nails for us and was ridden into the ground by Dave. This is one I expect the club to be hesitant on as he has an extensive history of arm issues.

    - The Dodgers are going to be heading into the offseason with one of the strongest/deepest farm systems among any other contender, especially among their NL rivals. It will be interesting to see if and how they use it to strengthen the club. In all likelihood, they’re going to add to that depth as they have some pieces from the big league roster who I’d guess are heading to new homes. Such as Grandal, McCarthy and Ryu standout to me as the most likely candidates to go. Kazmir is probably a DFA during camp and no clue what AGon does as rumors are all over the place on him.

    - Honeycutt apparently made it sound like he intends to return to his role as pitching coach next season.

    - Utley, Morrow, Granderson, Darvish, Watson and Gutierrez are FA’s to be. Ethier has a club option. My over under on any of those guys returning is 1.5

was never that optimistic on otani so meh

iirc darvish had tipping issues here after his first start
thought honeycutt helped him fix it towards the end of the season
but he was absolute garbage in his 2 ws starts

august of next season for urias???
almost feeling like he's never going to pan out
and maybe i'm underestimating him, but he seems like a low #2-3 to me
sucks that we won't know until 2019 apparently

    i love morrow
but if what you're saying about his injury history leads to our front office being apprehensive we'll probably lose him
i'm sure some team will offer him a 2-3 year deal

grandal, ryu and mccarthy are dead weight
ship them or dfa them, i don't care

utley and granderson showed their age(s) this year and both should probably retire
watson and cingrani are good as loogys, but i doubt we keep both (maybe neither)
    gutierrez, buh bye
will be sad to see ethier go, but we have younger/better options
dre can still hit though so i wouldn't be surprised to see him sign with an al team as a dh

For what it's worth, and I know the body is still warm, but this year was the last of the "transition" period. Agon, Utley, Ethier, Ryu, Kazmir, McCarthy, Granderson, Grandal, even Logan all have to go. Not angry at them, but the kiddies have to grow up now, and we have to bite that bullet.

I think we have a solid outfield even with the power outage with Puig though one can argue he contributed more than Seager and Belli combined this WS.

Turner is a keeper for now, but I think we need to think long term at 3rd base as we have to do at 2nd. Culberson might do. Barnes is the catcher...but I'm not sure Farmer is the answer as backup. Seager and Belli stay at short and 1st. Not sure who the backups are at those positions.

The toughest part is pitching. Needless to say, I don't want Darvish back unless there is a STEEP discount for him to stay. They need to fix his pitch tipping and work on his head. There was more than pitch tipping going on there. Hill is a keeper, and I also like Wood. He really showed up when it mattered.

CK stays, but I will never trust him again in the post season, and Roberts better not either.

In other words, we need a legitimate #2 or #3 with proven guts. I'm not sure who that is, but if we have to give up a prospect or 2, then we need it. We need someone who can win a Game 1, or 3 and a Game 5 or 7.

Keep Morrow. Don't care about injury history here....he at least showed guts. Keep Watson, Cingrani. Fuck Fields and Baez. Need better long relief, but Maeda might just be a better middle relief guy than SP.

So many thoughts going on. I think Belli and Seager will do better with another year. Gotta work on that inside breaking ball.

    Geez, I need to sleep.

Urias may end up a relief pitcher at best, which isn't so bad. But not what we expected. I think we need to look at FA to get us over the top on SP.

Otani waiting until 2019 would be extremely beneficial to us. Urias was never really in play for next year anyways. I'd offer Yu a 1 year deal, Morrow 2 with a club option, keep Watson. Sign Kershaw to an extension. Then go to Miami and say we'll take on like 70% of Stanton's contract and they can have Verdugo and Ryu. It may not seem that good on the surface but it Herman said SF are the favorites for Stanton and we can just not let that happen and that is better than anything they can offer. Trade McCarthy and Forsythe too, put CT3 at 2B full time.

There is literally Arrieta and Yu. No one else worth looking at. And both are on the wrong side of 30

The Giants getting Stanton would be stupid, imo. They have a huge payroll already with no farm system and a crap roster.

Grandal is as good as gone (said that in the previous thread), here's a thought.

To Dodgers: Christian Yelich (Need to get a little more left-handed, bet you didn't think I'd be saying that one year ago?)
To Team X: Grandal (pick any number of teams in need of a good offensive player for his position, and a plus defender)
To Marlins: Good prospects from both teams (Maybe Kendall or Diaz, and arm that's a ways off)

I know people will dream of Giancarlo, but I don't see them making that kind of commitment, I don't expect SF will either, not with nearly $170M already committed, unless Cueto opts out, in which case they can have him, their pitching will be a joke.

I'd keep Grandal. Barnes was low key trash in the World Series and he started every game. And I don't like the idea of Farmer backing up. Stanton hit 44 HRs vs RHP last year and I really want him

I’d go Arrietta because he has some big game experience, but yeah, wrong side of 30 and wants to get paid.

should be able to resolve the pitch tipping but then again i thought our best hitters could lay off a curve in the dirt
i would see what yu was asking for and kick those tires first
because we need the guy and maybe he wants to make up for that horrid WS showing
his stuff is good but i think its the million dollar talent 10 cent head thing
barnes was worn down and unless yas was injured i don't understand how he didn't get one start or one ab
if we keep both of them maybe they would both share time enough to stay fresh
still think there should be a market for CK and we need to explore trading him before he walks at the end of 18
a change would be good for both sides

You can't base things like that on one series, Barnes was flat-out better, 2.6 to 2.1 B-WAR despite 200+ fewer PAs, and an even 2.5 fWAR. Let's say this front office considers them equal on the field, I don't think they will trade a guy with 5 years of control over a guy who will be a FA next winter. It just makes no sense to have these guys split time again, and it makes even less sense to sign Grandal to a long-term deal at 29.

I mean it's a little different if they decide to not give Darvish $150M based on his two starts, not to mention he has thrown 2100+ pro innings and already had Tommy John Surgery.

Darvish will be greatly discounted. He cost himself 40M

We have 3 Alex Cobb's already in Ryu, McCarthy and Maeda, plus they will come a lot cheaper than he will. Not to mention the amount of depth we have in the minors at SP that mostly have Cobbesque upside or better. I think they consider Darvish, but that is it, otherwise they will look trade. Arrieta is gonna go somewhere desperate and willing to meet Boras's insane asking price.

He was a great young pitcher with the Rays, then he got hurt and hasn't really been the same. He is a good backend pitcher, but he is not something this team needs right now.
