They're gonna start letting DHs in, they better start giving guys like Berkman who struggled in the field more consideration. And Berkman absolutely raked in October as well

One thing is certain, Berkman will be in the NCAA HOF if he isn't already

Marlins mlb.com report Joe Frisario says the Dodgers are still talking about Realmuto and that Keibert Ruiz’s name has come up. Literally only makes sense if Friedman is fearing mlb could declare him a FA because of the international violations. Trade him before they can steal him from us. I’d think Austin Barnes would be part of the deal rather than Ruiz if not

I disagree on Palmero as he was on track to have a big career before it is speculated that he started roiding. He just gets popped cause he was such a D Bag about the whole thing(like all of them were). McGwire is a HOF'er on numbers alone, but it is not like he didn't come into the league as a monster. It is just a question on when did he start roiding? Checkout Ortiz and the year he went from, "he's ok" to "this dude is a stud" is the same year he was said to be in the Mitchell Report. He along with Sosa are two dudes that you could definitely argue benefitted from the steroid era as Sosa went from basically dog shit to an absolute monster.

You could also argue that Sosa and McGwire deserve to be in the Hall due to what they did for the game. Baseball was still kinda reeling after the strike shortened 94-95 seasons. Those two were saviors for the game and brought nationwide interest back and also caught the attention of young fans. That should honestly be worth something. I still remember when Big Mac hit #62, I was at a restaurant at the top of the Tattered Cover Bookstore in Denver. There was no TV and the chefs in the kitchen were listening. When he hit it, they started cheering, a waiter came out and announced he broke the record and the whole restaurant started cheering... In hindsight, a really fucking weird moment, but it also shows how monumental the whole occasion was. So if you put in two roiders (Bonds and Clemens), there are some others that deserve recognition as well.

Yup Berkman is already in the NCAA HOF. I guess if Berkman spent most of his career in the AL and DHing he'd get in..what kinda shit is that? Lol Get it together, MLB.

Just checked on his numbers outside of Minute Maid and they basically mirror one another. A .946 OPS @ home. A .940 OPS on the road. Yup, they're docking him for not evading the field/not DHing. I wonder how many guys have been kept out because of defense and how they feel watching a DH, albeit one of the 2 best DHs ever, get strong consideration.

All this shit is just making way for Ortiz to get in, of course, who has the double whammy of DHing and being on the steroid list. Meanwhile, ARod is talking his way in

Totally agree. Trading Ruiz for Realmuto at this point would be such a desperation move by the FO. For me, Realmuto is just not a "needle mover" that I feel you should trade a prospect of Ruiz's caliber for. Smith is the guy you move where he has an ok floor, but does have impact upside. The upside of smith is somewhere in the impact area of what Realmuto has been. The upside of Ruiz is at such a higher level than what Realmuto has shown thus far that it is just not worth the risk for me. Only reason they trade Ruiz at this point is because they fear they are going to lose him and if that is the case, then you should be able to do better than Realmuto.

This game of chicken the owners and FAs are playing is so stupid. It’s clear in this new baseball age, even teams in dire need are going to wait and wait.....and eventually, FAs won’t even be signed up by opening day.

There will be a work stoppage soon. It’s almost inevitable.

Yup instead of promoting a new exciting age of baseball and take advantage of the draft and FA periods.

The greed will be the downfall of baseball as it is the long games has been a big talk and a work stoppage will cause an effect.

Billionaires fighting millionaires talk again will be the straw that broke the camels back:wakeup:

I was honestly shocked there was not one this last year. The players took such a shit deal and I honestly think clubs were gearing for a much higher tax number for 2018(I believe the Dodgers were one of those clubs). Then Clark took a deal that was immediately lampooned by many. A lot of projections had the tax at $220M and going up from there, not slow increments that cap out at $210M in 2021. Something will need to be done... firing Tony Clark would be a good first step by MLBPA.

Wow, so Bonds and Clemens are not really gaining traction. This could get very interesting. Schilling had a 9% bump, but still has some room to go. Hopefully Larry Walker gets the pub he deserves.

Yeah, but I am just glad that unanimous shit is over. One Boston writer said he was going to turn in a blank ballot in defiance or something and oh man would that have been great theatre if he was the only one from making him not unanimous.

Walker didn't really turn into an offensive force until he got to Coors.
    His @ home OPS, 1.068
    On the road, .865
And that's with the Montreal years pullin the home numbers down
He was an all around guy though I guess and a popular so he's probably going in eventually
I'd rather have old Diamond Bar Jimmy Ballgame Edmonds, tbh
Edmonds was better than Walker in the postseason as well

10 years for ANY player is stupid. Andrew Friedman said that we are looking for right handed hitting not me. Not a fan of Pollock by the way but again it wasn't me who put out those goals for RH hitting.
