Shopping could be pretty tough for the Dodgers since the most attractive suitors are probably the fucking Giants. I believe that Zaidi would trade with us, but I would damn well bet that their owners would refuse. The next problem is that the pickin's from the many crappy AL teams are going to be slim as many of their bullpens are garbage. It could be tough and the club may need to do what they did in the Floro deal and locate a guy or two that was being improperly used. Not a lot of great options out there and if Kenley really is as stubborn as is being reported, getting Kimbrel may not realistically be in the cards either.
If that is true then Andrew Friedman, Dave Roberts and whoever else is in charge are a bunch of pathetic pussies. Don't give Jansen a choice. If he does not like it ohhhhhhhhhhh fucking well.
It is already working out.
The FO is giving Dave instructions for the catcher to give Jansen.
Jansen wants to work his shit out on his own because taking the FO's instruction fucks with his mojo.
Normally that would not fly... but he's a closer. Mojo is what separates a closer from a good reliever.
He may believe that if he does what the FO wants he will not have his mojo.
He wants his mojo so his role as closer can't be challenged.
This issue between the FO and Kenley will produce good fruits imo.
Kenley will continue to ignore the FO and get his mojo back = win!
Kenley ignores the FO and does not get his mojo back so the FO has the cover to sign Kimbrel = win!
Kenley is neither.
Of course it's true. From Guggs all the way to Roberts.
Prediction: Rockies for Kimbrel
Davis has run into some health stuff and I don't see them giving up after having spent some this past offseason
They only spent on Arenado.
Do you know what's up with Cingrani. I know he has been rehabbing but haven't heard in a bit of time. He alone won't tip the balances a huge amount in our favor but it will lengthen the pen.
On this day in 2002..........
Pretty sure they gave Wade Davis $50M, but I guess that was last offseason
Blackmon got paid too
Daniel Murphy as well
Rockies have shelled out some cash and aren't dead in the standings. Not completely, anyway
This FO will spend precious cash and luxury tax to get an upgrade in the BP. Their model is to tantalize but never climax. This way they can tease for years instead of having to deal with a Gnat like rebuild situation.
Apparently he is still in OKC 6.1 IP through the month. Last outing on the 21st was the .1 and it was a hit, walk and ER... that doesn't look great on the surface and I've heard nothing else.
AF will somehow convince Kimbrel to take a tax friendly rental deal near the deadline and then text Dave in game 7, ordering him to leave him seething in the pen while Kenley blows the series with a 5 out save attempt.
Dave says "And, ummmmm" 47 times, with conviction, while fumbling through many questions why at the presser....
FUCKTARD GENIUS ON DISPLAY!
I don't know, I could be in the extreme minority on this, but I prefer to have a strong shot of a championship for multiple seasons over the long run, rather than sell-out for a chance at a one-and-done type of scenario and have to live with the putridness that is the Gnats right now. Yeah, I know they won three, but two of them were really lucky so I'd argue that only one really should have happened. And you could shoot your load for the one and there's no guarantee it even happens, and then you're wallowing in mediocrity. Not saying I'm content with just division titles, but keep putting this team in the postseason and at some point it's gotta happen. Even despite Roberts (I hope).
Joe Kelly put on bereavement list.
Kyle Garlick up
Wow...everyone is entitled to their opinion.
But in my world, based on true history, that "elite" ceiling is nothing but a false positive. Aren't you tired of the bridesmaid role we've been finding every which way to carry on with? Shit's old.
Maybe it's just me...but winning the NLW every year, and going/ not going to the WS and losing...that and $2.50 gets you a cup of coffee. ( It used to be 10¢).
And I've read and been told fairly often about those "lucky" titles the SFags got...and it always sounds the same...
like sour grapes.
If it's OK to win the division over and over again, and not get the ring ultimately, then it sure is OK to get lucky in 2/3 championships any day.
I'll take 3 WS wins, however "tainted" they may be, every damn time.
As would I, and I don't agree with their strategy this offseason (they should've added a lot more to the BP than Kelly, even if it put them over the tax limit, as that was clearly the team's weak link). But using Harper as an example - Had they signed him for $425M or whatever he got, we would've been in a situation where we'd need to win it in the next couple years to justify the contract. I believe he'll regress quickly after that and the contract will loom heavily. So maybe that would've put us over the top, or maybe it doesn't and we're financially limited for the next decade. That's one decision that I'd agree on with the front office. They maintained the flexibility to stay competitive beyond the next couple of seasons.
I'd love to see them shell out for Kimbrell now, especially since we're in a position that we likely won't need him to be at his best for a few months.
