A 10-2 felon?
Hang him from the nearest yardarm !
Muncy did have a bad July but I’d wait to see how he does in August a little longer before anything. He’s been our 2nd best hitter all year. IF we do needa platoon him against lefties, plenty of options now and in the future with White/Freese/Gyorko/Taylor/Enrique
The one real decision they have to make will be on Ryu. AFucktard will try and put him under ether, citing his injury history, to take an incentive laden deal like Maeda did, in order to keep the cap # relatively close to where it is now. He tends to keep the safe, sentimental favorites around.
It's his pattern.
we could make a quilt.
The downside to being up a million games, the most interesting thing the rest of the season is gonna be guys fighting it out for spots on the playoff roster, pitchers in particular. As a result, we will overanalyze every appearance. Health permitting, all of the following will be competing for spots:
Garcia (though i'm not a fan)
Thornburg (we'll see)
This could be for as few as 2-3 spots, if Hill is healthy, meaning Maeda gets demoted and Kolarek/Urias are the Lefties.
A little too early to gauge our need for a big time FA. We don't win the WS how impatient do we get. Rumor is Gerrit Cole is on our radar or reported radar. A desire to sign a guy isn't enough the other party has to want to be here and maybe take a lower AAV or amount of years. Payroll will be under control finally after this year so that helps a lot. Having said that we are obviously high on our specs so there will always be a question whether or not we are big spenders again.
This may be my new signature. I've been laughing at this for ten minutes ... just the image of gayness, all of us quilting around a coffee table, sitting in rocking chairs, while @irish keeps sticking himself in the finger and crying like a baby every five minutes ...
Anyway, countdown to seeing this post in full strikeout mode, t minus whenever Irish sees this and decides how filthy his response will be ...
Saw Cole pitch several times in HS. He was scary good then, of course, but I always wonder how meager that'll look in the show. I've seen three dozen "can't miss prospects" in CHSAA & CIF play, and only Cole, Blach, Irvin, D-Miller, and a few others have made it to the show. Still, I would love to see Cole in Dodger Blue. He can be dominant, just so long as he doesn't decide to blow out his elbow in his second start like a few big FA pitchers did for LA after signing the fat contract (Dreifort, Schmidt).
Greinke is Twitter trending, and I found some great quotes of his ... for all of his weirdness, I have always liked his autistic oddness...
From a Posnanski interview ...
No doubt there's no need to read between the lines when Greinke speaks. In a way, as odd as he is, it's kind of refreshing.
And it's hilarious that a dude with a $200M contract is boycotting a 30 cent increase in the cost of guacamole. That's classic! But given his personality, he doesn't come across as a total cheapskate.
Compare him to this:
A few years ago, my wife and I vacationed to Kauai with two other couples. The six of us went zip lining. Had a good time, so at the end, we tipped the two guides $50 per couple. Not a huge amount, but enough that they were grateful. As we put away our gear, they said they had Barry Zito the week before. Keep in mind this was during his mammoth Gnat contract. At the end, he handed one a ten dollar bill and said to make sure to split it with the other guide. I thought they were kidding but they were dead serious. Now I always remember that story whenever Zito's name comes up.
Loved zack's attitude no question
Remember those post game interviews with alana and she'd bring up some obscure stat and then ask him "isn't that crazy?"
His eyes would get all big and he'd smile that insane smile of his
Better than a comedy act and since he really doesn't have a filter the answers were hysterical
They will be 100M under the tax going into the offseason and have something like 25M total committed after 2021. It’s not that they will go over the cap, it just that they will finally be out of from some awful contracts where they will have room to make plenty of moves under the tax. Then with all the cheap controllable talent, they won’t even have to worry about getting close to that tax number until the mid-2020’s unless they make a number of FA signings, which is likely not needed.
For those of you that care about this sort of thing, NLDS and NLCS will be broadcast exclusively on TBS this year. Postseason starts on October 3rd.
Greinke wanted to be with LAD and was well compensated in 2012..why do other top tier FAs have to take a lower AAV and/or less years if the payroll will be under control? They'd better get off the BS and put the money in the bag.
Gerrit Cole getting beat over the head by the Sox and Cubbies in the postseason sticks in my mind. A year and a half ago the thought was, " we don't need Gerrit Cole because Maeda is better. " Yup. And now Cole's on our radar for $180M+?? Believe it when I see it. They've obviously done a good job resurrecting Cole in HOU, but I don't think LAD is replacing Honeycutt with Brent Strom. Cole @ 29yrs old..probably a 7, maybe 8yr deal where he eventually morphs back into meh without Strom. Rather have 31yr old Stras for the next 5 or 6 seasons. But realistically we're probably looking at overpaying Ryu
Looks like all but 1 or 2 of our home games would be on the weekend (if we maintain HFA in the NL and lose it against the AL), which is nice.
Check out Stripling's podcast with JT's wife, pretty funny.
Kimbrel hits the IL lol
so much for that brilliant signing
blowing saves as well
better them than us
Man, the race for best record in MLB is tight. .5 game separates us from NY and Houston.
Unless injuries happen, that Stros starting pitching looks scary.
Shane Greene....two games......a loss and a blown (no homo) save for Atlanta.
Adam kolarek: 0.00 ERA, 0 hits allowed
only faced one batter. Please ignore this.
