I still find it hard to believe the Dodgers were doing the same thing as the Astros in 2017, otherwise they would have caught on to the Astros and tried to disguise their signs.

Now, a slightly different scheme, or sign-stealing from 2018 on... I could see that. We were pretty good during that time.

    The whole thing just smells.

Before all the cheating, Yuli should've been suspended during the series for the racist gesture towards Davish but he got a meaningless suspension for the next season. The MLB is determined to be as soft as they can possibly be on the Astros and it's been that way for awhile

I like MLB discussing ideas for electronic communication between the pitchers and catchers. It will be a change from the game we know, but it needs to happen sooner rather than later. Get ready to see Greg Maddux in the booth as the Pitch Coordinator calling the pitches.

and as easy as it would seem to have a buzzer it would easily fit in a pocket
it also would have made the need to bang trash cans superfluous
when you think about it they are complete fools for not devising a stealthier mode for breaking code

    good point
even if pitcher and catcher just had buzzers it would make it next to impossible to steal a pitch sign

Let us not forget that Houston got to the top by tanking. A franchise determined to get to the top no matter what it takes....legal or illegal...ethical or unethical.

Yeah. As technology improves, it's just going to get harder and harder to hide traditional signs, so the only way to beat it is to use technology too. I guess the plan is to test out several ideas during ST this year... if they find something the players like, I say fast-track it for use this season.

I wonder if any of this will affect the value of Mookie Betts, or if the Astros will suddenly be willing to part ways with certain hitters in their lineup.

I’ve never seen confetti that big. You can see the imprint of the wire underneath too. That looks like tape.

I would not be shocked if teams are less enamored with him now. Not like the Dodgers would trade for him anyway, but another season where his numbers are more in line with his career norms, the more people will view 2018 as the outlier and realize he is not worth Trout money. Still a really fucking good player, but not $40M a year good.

Alex Wood, Cody Bellinger and Brandon McCarthy have all spoken up now about this whole Astros/cheating thing. It has gotten out that players had a gag order put on them, but it looks like the players have seen enough.

I just made myself angry when I remembered how unhittable Kershaw was in that series at home and how they lit him up in Houston... Should have been coming home up 3-2. Fuck this whole thing is just pure bullshit.

Yep....game 5 stands out big time. They made all of our pitchers look like they were throwing BP. So sickening. We are truly cursed.

I remember yelling at the TV that they were hitting everything like they knew what was coming. Just fucking maddening.

Let's spread the tumor that the dodgers were also involved in all of this and that Dave Roberts and Alex Cora planned it together while member of the Padres.
I'm sure we can trace it all to some organization a bunch of these guys belonged to at the same time.

A lot of things stand out about that game, how they were teeing off vs ALL of our pitchers. How Bill Miller rigged the strike zone for them. Shadiest fucking game I have ever seen. Game 2 also and Laz Diaz conveniently running into a pickoff throw with the winning run on second base to Cody’s ball dying at the warning track.
