Every single barbarian king that brings a horde to the big city ends up being a wayward bastard son of that city.
    Every single one.
In all the stories movies and histories.
Shit sometimes the barbarian leader is the son aka descendant of a great general or king of the civilized empire.

It's like they trying to say that barbarians aren't a foreign wild race that civilization one day bumped into in the cold north.
They are the losers of your own civilization.
The bastard son's that weren't wanted.

    Where France got it's name.
    The fringes or society.
The helots will betray the spartans everytime because nobody likes to be put in the corner.
Rome was betrayed by their lower castes too.
Because they felt a kinship with the barbarians that was stronger even than culture.

A shared red blood of bastards not wanted by their kind and exposed to the cold of winter and the predators of the knight.
Those that survive only do by banding together into tightly knit social communities in the shadows of the empire.
Speaking in sing song bar bar words that the cultured deem deplorable noise.
    Like rock n roll.

My family is down to two locations- Kentucky or North Carolina. Kentucky is the most likely.

ETD is late June. Good bye California...

Visited the Raleigh-Durham area a few years ago on business. Was amazed at the clean highways, the lack of graffiti and the politeness of the people.

    Good luck wherever you settle.

any other input on this area?
based on this post i spent the last hour looking up annual weather, real estate etc. and it looks like a good value
cheap nonstop from LA seeing as i'd still have to come back here occasionally
have to find out if they have restrictions on people from this part of the world before booking a flight to check it out

Good luck with the move, Finski. It’s always amazing looking at real estate outside of Southern California. I have friends from NC. Good people. They’ve talked about moving back, but haven’t pulled the trigger. They are the complete opposite of you on the political spectrum, FWIW. I’m conservative in their eyes.

That is a factor but because we plan to go debt free and buy the house outright, we will either buy a fixer at a lower price or get lucky and catch a nicer home that’s in foreclosure. There are quite a few already and March may prove to be a big month for them in Charlotte & Asheville NC area.

And...just got an email from the ASPCA to sign a petition against scumbay pos Shia Le Beouf, " actor"'who, to get "into character ", rode around LA shooting stray dogs so he knew how it would feel to be killer.
As per his girl friend...can you believe this shit ?
I know some Jersey boys that would help him get into character if they could.
May he die in a barn fire. Or any kind of fire...
