After all the fuss about luxury penalties I can't see us getting Manny plus we have that elephant in the room which is his impending free agency.

We won’t be in the penalty if we trade for Machado

His salary is prorated. He makes 16M this season and we're already past the halfway point in the season. We're looking at adding 6-7M in salary if we pick him up. @ColoradoKidWitGame has also posted in the past about how injuries to our SP may help us with the lux tax.

If they trade for him, they'll do everything possible to retain him. His impending FA helps us on the trade front, imo, because the O's have to be more reasonable (you'd think) since he's a rental

Thanks for clarifying guys. They to my knowledge ever mention that most important fact. It's been our goal for a year. Kind of important.

Weirdly, I think our SP...as long as Kershaw returns to his semi-normal self...is better than last year. Just have to address the bullpen and add an impact star like Manny.

It's the era of the superteam. Manny and relievers get us back into that class of teams.

Yeah I want a reliever before I want a starter. I think I have enough trust that you can get 5 healthy versions of Kershaw, Wood, Walker, Stripling, Maeda, Hill, Ryu, and Ferguson all throughout the year and that’ll be good enough. You get a consistent bat like Manny plus an 8th inning guy and everything else falls into place nicely

I’m wondering if they’d consider something like, Kershaw, Hill, Stripling and Buehler as the playoff starters, and then like, Hill only goes through the order twice regardless of how well he’s doing and then Maeda for 1 turn, and doing the same with Stripling and Wood. So essentially 6 starters but 4 that you only let go 3-4 innings each. That and Kenley and a guy like Treinen would be lethal.

Mid-Summer hope. We're right on schedule. See you for the funeral in the Fall.

Yet the Royals can suck for 30 years, win a championship real quick, and go back to sucking. The Marlins can win on a wildcard, sell off the entire team, and win another one a few years later. The Red Sox alternate year by year from being good and horrible. Every time they're good, they sneak in a WS victory.

We're consistently good for a decade, and never win shit

He's ONLY as a mascot. Players like him for some fucking reason.

Oh and dogs CAN smell failure.. just like fear it is the mark of weakness and most canines figure that out instantly.

you may have forgotten, or purposely omitted, the Giants.
i think that no team comes even close as they do as being representative of your point.
I've heard "lucky, they got hot, Bochy, homos always win", etc., assortment of reasons why...and they all might be true. But to deny the accomplishments they have achieved is foolhardy, and it remains in modern bb history, unparalleled.
Those facts send woeful waves of disbelief and angry jealousy through most Dodger fans, and the possibilty that "here they come again" is more than sobering, but absolutely lurking, in the shadows of the NLW.

Pretty presumptuous post. Not saying I disagree.

Thanks...I can't do those things on my little tablet...but somehow I righted the ship.
On another note, I've learned failure can come to anyone, both strong and weak alike. It is not necessarily a sign of the latter. In fact, it can become the core of one's strength, a cornerstone, I've learned.
    Just my tuppence.
But in bb, there's no crying. It is weakness.
