Not only did Uribe save his bacon, he completed "The play" and put a 1.4MM pig farm in his wallet...

and he was a donnie pick
could be a little "fuck you" to mattingly as they show him the door...

Mattingly also hand picked Hillman to be his bench coach in 2010 and the two are said to be best friends. http://bit.ly/17GPaQS

I just don't know how many managers woulda handled the bullshit going on off the field as well as he did and still get this team where it was. The slump, almost being fired, beig a lame duck, Puig and the criticism, having to gel together a team of players that had bad reps elsewhere (Hanley, Beckett, Adrian, Carl), too many injuries, 4 OFs

I think he deservedly gets hate for in game management, but 1) not many managers are going to be significantly better at that and 2) having a good clubhouse is SOO much more important.

Diablo brought up bobby v and there's a good example: no matter what Bobby's strategy was, his team hated him and he had no control so his team sucked ass. It's not comparable to the success the dodgers had and the failures of the Red Sox were completely different than the failures of the dodgers

I just worry bringin in someone new who doesn't handle that stuff real well an sets us back. There's a lot that can go wrong with a new manager and with don we know we can win, why change that

Maye a new bench coach can help (hillman did get fired...)

Unless they have a great replacement candidate that they truly feel is going to make the team better and not make this amazing team fall apart (which can happen with these personalities) I see a firing as a lateral move at best and at worst bringing in someone who tries too hard and then we don't win the pennant.

    a legitimate concern
a disciplinarian like larussa for example would clash with puig
players were said to really like wallach when he managed in the minors as i recall, not that that necessarily equates into mlb success :headscratch:

    yup, definitely a [IMG]...

Don Mattingly said yesterday he wanted his entire staff back, but it's clear that won't be the case if he returns. http://bit.ly/17GPaQS

Wallach is a lateral move at best . Players really like him, but I doubt any more than they like Mattingly ... But he isn't any better at in game stuff (if you look at stuff in ALBQ, he bunted a shit ton there even though it's like Coors Field)

Wow. I was under the impression that managers picked their coaches and pretty much ran the dugout.

Mattingly chose Hillman when he came, so yeah they do. Either this is just a shitty round about way to get Don to leave or it's something the owners are saying needs to happen in order for Don to get an extension, like a guideline.

Idk. Shit's weird, I hate PR bullshit like this... Stop beating around the bush and just do what you wanna do.
