Actually, if you look at was he has said in the past, the majority of it he has backed up in practice. True enough there are no WS trophies on the shelf, but by and large what he has said he would do he has done. Spend in the beginning to keep the team competive, check. Build the farm through draft and international spending, check. Field a competitive team every season, check.

The only thing he has not done is what others seem to think he should do, namely bankrupt the team by spending on every top name free agent that hits the market and trade off all the top prospects for overpaid veterans. Both things he has basically said he would not do.

Sooooooooo...why does every one keep expecting him to do it?

I know I'm from backwoods North Carolina and all, ...but I can't remember the last time I went to a restaurant to watch TV.

    Just sayin'.

I feel like the last couple seasons I would be in Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili's, a pizza place, a mexican restaurant or whatever and the only baseball game on were Angels games when the Dodgers were on at the same time. Which, to me is aggravating. It's a 180 day season with 162 games. Can't be camped on the couch at 7:00 for every game. It's nice to keep an eye on the game when you're out and feel the Dodgers in the community. Jmo.

Maybe "restaurant" seems strange to you to watch a game. But I like to catch 3 or 4 innings for lunch on Sunday or for dinner on Friday night. Don't see how that's strange.

Maybe a "bar" is more common, but I don't drink.

And living on the border of LA and OC, when the Angels feed is on for the Freeway series it bothers me.

    funny you should mention that
i used to fish with this guy who worked for wolfgang puck
whenever we'd get back he'd always want the shittiest 7-11/am pm food he could find
he said chefs got tired of eating all that [good] prepared food and shit like 7-11 was a guilty pleasure
a couple years later i got hired to bartend at this ritzy 5 star hotel
i quickly made friends with the chefs, and was able to get whatever i wanted -- daily
    prime rib, lobster, whatever
the funny thing... i got tired of that stuff occasionally and craved fast food -- tommy's, jack in the crack, carl's
so, much to my surprise, i discovered that you actually can get tired of good food
    who knew?

    LA Times. Shaikin retreated this.

    http://www.latimes.com/entertainmen...s-in-towel-dodger-channel-20160331-story.html

They've "conceded that they've failed to get distribution for sportsnet la"

So they've given up. And none of the carriers want this channel.

    So now what?

    Play out the 20 years?
Sell the rights back to Fox?
Add the Clippers to the network and try negotiations again?
Dodgers agree to take less money? (That won't happen and won't work anyways because TWC is already reducing the cost and nobody wants the channel).
Simulcast the games on OTA television until the Charter merger is complete?
Go A la Carte for a while? (definitely wouldn't happen and only prove the other carrier's right when subscriptions to the channel are low)

The sad part is, the Dodgers nor TWC have actually made much of a campaign to get this done. Not that it would make a difference. But the Dodgers refuse to even talk about it. I understand distribution and negotiations are TWC's business, but the Dodgers have to take responsibility and speak out at some point.

I'd think the only tangible thing the Dodgers can do is renegotiate the deal with TWC to get some control back. That could cost the Dodgers billions of dollars. It's better to stay quiet, toss TWC an attaboy now and then, and keep cashing the checks.

Kasten just said on PMS that he doesn't expect a deal to happen "probably ever".

You hacks just couldn't take 7 billion from Fox, could you? Dumbasses.

I thought I heard nothing will happen until there is an ownership change at TWC with the Charter deal. I guess no guarantees there though.

I'm actually on TWC side here. Assuming what they said in the article is true, there should at least be ongoing talks.

I'd guess the most likely time something could happen is soon after Charter takes over. New people negotiating, maybe they come to the table with more humility and less bad blood.

TWC came out of the gate with a record high asking price and had no problem holding that price when thousands of subscribers a day were switching to TWC. Now that all the subscriber changes/cancellations are done, there's even less incentive for other providers to pick up SNLA than there was in the beginning. TWC effectively devalued their product. I think it will take a major olive branch from TWC/Charter to get a deal done at this point, and deservedly so IMO.

I heard Kasten on Mason and Ireland say the same thing, that we probably shouldn't expect a deal ever. Well fuck you.
You probably shouldn't be surprised when the Dodgers become irrelevant in their home market

    Kasten needs to resign. Seriously.

I love how when Petros asked him if anybody is to blame or if he would do anything different in hindsight, Kasten's response was "Yeah, I wish I wouldn't have been so respectful to the process and didn't stay so far behind the scenes". Way to take responsibility, idiot.
