Damn, I hope this is a sign that we have a SOLID 1-3 SP lineup, with the batting to boot. Just wondering how much better it might be with Ryu and the rest of the gang back solid. And with the other players on the DL able to come back.....it is just a good omen. Kudo.
Great start to the season. Just about perfect. I only wonder how much is how good are we? or how much is how bad are the Padres? McGwire effect on the Padres?
Funky backdoor slider by Blanton, nice AJ with a lil framing job there. This shit is excellent, I can't believe Lazarito is thinking about joining those Padre clowns, this series is all he needs to see, come play for the big boys
Dodgers 25, Padres 0. Meh...I give this series a C-. We averaged less than 1 run per inning....pathetic.
The gnats series is definitely an early test. Especially with Wood and Stripling going games 1 and 2. Then we face Bumgarner and Cueto. Gotta at least split but beating their top two in the rotation would make me feel a bit more confident in the team rather than thinking, well, it is just the Padres. Still, we won games we should have won.
That's the most important thing, their are so many teams that figure to be bad in the NL (COL, SD, CIN, MIL, ATL, PHI), that the teams that do the best job of winning those games will have a decided advantage in making the playoffs. Also because the "bad" teams are evenly distributed between the 3 divisions, each team will play approximately the same number of games against them. 19 x 2 division opponents + 7 x 4 non-division = roughly 66 games against those teams.
I can't wait for Kershaw vs Bumgarner. Every time Kershaw takes the mound he looks better than the last time... I think I just keep forgetting how good he really is. Seeing our pitching staff against a non-Padres lineup will be telling, although this was a fun series.
