Look, I had no confidence we could take 2 out of 3, so I would call this a success in relative terms. But if you give up 6 solid innings from Wood to only have all these switches and pitching changes and end up with Blanton at the end of it....it just kinda feels bad. I do have to give credit to the ESPN crew for looking at Puig's swing. He's an absolute mess at the plate....late on everything and then chasing. WTF is up with the hitting coaches? Or is it Puig just not giving a damn?
Remembering Prince Fielder showing up to LAD's clubhouse for Russ Martin Lol Had a flashback after Prince got plunked today and Martin running out to stand in between him and the pitcher. Like, brah...Prince might actually come after you, not the pitcher
I think he gives a damn. He just doesn't seem to have the mental capability to adjust at the plate. Two of three against the Cards is never a bad thing.
Lineup position is not for rewards. If puig is gonna play he should not be in the heart of the order until he can start driving in runs. Being on deck while utley hits cant hurt. Working on moving the runner over or taking pitches to improve his eye without having to worry about power or rbis cant hurt. Hitting in front of seager agon and joc cant hurt. Burying him at the end of the lineup to stash him might hurt. And if the team thinks so little of his future then sit him down in favor of trayce or to the minors. At second let him take walks sacrifice fly and use his athleticism running the bases.
You do not give one of your worst hitters a potential extra AB in a game Don Mattingly. You give it to Seager until he's about 33 years old.
Well, Wood looked great at home again. Seager looked great And at the least the bullpen did bad in a game where the offense wasn't doing much? Hope the bully goes back to putting up zeros
agreed they were almost due for a bad game blanton was flat but he's been pretty good overall so whatev
Loved that we took 2 out of 3, liked that the pen had a really good stretch but I don't want the FO to think that the pen is better than they are. Corey on a national broadcast doing his thing was great to see, I always worry that our players don't get there due because of the late starts on the east coast.
Nice game Joey Blants! You too, Dave! In the post...they made a huge thing out of the fact he was the "first LA black (or mixed race) hire", and it was a focal point...but aside from that being cool and forward thinking, he may have not been the best candidate to sign.It has nothing to do with ability due to color, if that's where you're going. And before the anthropological diversity post comes, I'm well aware that we are all- every one- of mixed race.
Lol Thank you, NZ Putting Puig at the top of the lineup would make no sense for that reason, whether it's the 1 or 2 spot. We can go full saber as well..the 1, 2 and 4 spots are for your best hitters, 1 and 2 have to be pretty good at getting on base, 2 being the very best hitter on the team. Obviously Puig's not any of those things. Now, Joc is another story, he's making a case for a spot in the top half of the lineup. Perhaps if Chase begins to slow Joc can move into the 1 spot, or if they're so inclined to help the team right now they could move Joc into the 3 spot and push Turner's scuffling ass down to about 6 behind YG until he finds what he's looking for. Puig should stay right where he is @ 7, maybe even go 8th...Joe Maddon would probably have his ass batting 9th. Corey should still be hitting in the 2 spot for LAD when Puig is playing for his 3rd or 4th team.
Yes you do whe you think that player coming around is an important part of your teams future success. You dont if you think like a shortsighted fan.
The player they were listening to offers for this past off-season? That guy? In no world, long or short, should Puig replace Corey in the 2 spot.
Because it needs to be "messed with". No way are we in a " leave well enough alone" situation...not by a long shot. Yes, it looked better against the Cards, but do we definitely win without that shit defense they have? Maybe we lose both, or one, and lose the series. Two runs yesterday by one guy. Lol. We scored hardly anything against the Mets, and we have serious slumps with Puig, Kike, Turner, Crawford, and even Agon somewhat. It gets posted here incessantly about how terrible AJ is, and Grandal hits his HR per week, then disappears, like now. And Roberts, I guess, has a problem playing Thompson for whatever reason...so... I know we seldom see things the same way, but imo, this is blatantly obvious the lineup needs tweaking.
