Agree. It's shit of get off the pot time for Lee. Shows how little faith the organization has in him that they bring up anyone but Lee for spot starts.
I don't think the bigs is a time to try out people like that. Id say the scouts in Triple A can make a solid enough judgement about him, IMO. He should've been traded earlier in his career, oh well
Fun to see the kid up, but I'm really shocked by this. If he's on an 80 pitch limit, that could really hurt the team with how everyone has been throwing outside of Kershaw and Wood. It's been said though, he's not gonna be up for long since it looks like reinforcements are coming soon... plus his innings limit thing. Really hoping that De Leon and Wood are ok, both are young, valuable pieces that I would love to see around Urias and Kershaw next year.
This is true, but also: Bolsinger/Stripling were only going around 5 innings as well, with about 80 pitches, so it's not that different IMO. Not saying it's ideal, just that the current alternative doesn't provide many more innings
Too bad Vinny won't be calling this game...I'd love to hear what he does with " Urias" all night. Actually I have heard more then one pronunciation of it : you RY us...YOUR ee us...and a Spanish speaking friend of mine tells me OO re us is correct. Should be interesting.
Yeah if I remember correctly it was gonna Lee for Howie at the deadline 2 or 3 years ago. Forget which side blinked
Bill PlunkettVerified account @billplunkettocr Andrew Friedman called Julio Urias' MLB debut "a great organizational moment." Signed and developed by #Dodgers, credit to many in system Bill ShaikinVerified account @BillShaikin Friedman says Ryu will rejoin #Dodgers rotation soon. "Each start has gotten progressively better." Bill ShaikinVerified account @BillShaikin Friedman says it's more likely #Dodgers willl rotate Urias between rotation and bullpen this year than shut him down at some point.
I know that's right. Rotation depth rearing it's head, just gonna be fun to see Ryu in the dugout again in general. Hopefully Puig's stench doesn't rub off on Ryu
