2-0 Braves in the top of the 9th 2 outs, nobody on. 2-2 count to Gavin Lux with Kenley Jassen on the mound. Dodgers win
Just when I was about to wave the white (racist) flag.......... Glad Cat Man didn't get saddled with a L on bloop hit. Agree with others. The Lux AB might have been the best in the game. Put doubt in Kenley's mind. I hesitate giving Thompson much credit. He thought he had popped the ball up. Instead it fortunately went off Olson's glove. Once again, make contact and you never know what will happen. Chris Taylor 3-3 after a series of whiffs earlier in the series. Muncy deserves the shit he's gotten, but he hit in rotten luck late in the game. Hit the ball hard twice but found leather both times. Almonte looked like he would have rather been anywhere but pitching in that situation. Not sure he's built for high stress. Didn't even want to watch the bottom of the 11th. Seven pitches later Bazooka calls it a night. Whoda thunk it?
Does anyone know or have.any info on TT and what those dumbfuck announcers said about his preferred playing on the east coast ? I had read he expressed a willingness to stay here...but it was here I read it. I don't see this team without him as a continuing powerhouse. Not to this degree. As was recently written, the FO brilliance on trash heap moves is widely known and praised, but the organization is the one that has arguably the second worst trade in bb history on it's resume, along with recent boners like Yordan Alvarez, etc. to accompany it. I truly want to hear/ read the team is working on a TT extension, at least. I genuinely think that team of ESPN stroonz were pissed we won. Especially El Rape-O Cone.
Turner was all about the East Coast prior to the trade for him. Now he's warmed up to the idea of staying and it'll just come down to if the Dodgers pay him what he deserves. Trea said he was open to a contract extension in the spring but the Dodgers never even offered him one. Not sure what else the Dodgers need to see from him. Playoff success? If we hold players to that standard, a lot of members would have no place on this team. Seems like he's destined to hit the free agent market which gives me little optimism he stays with the Dodgers. Some team will blow him away with an offer and I fear it won't be the Dodgers. The drop off at SS next year would be alarming https://www.dodgersnation.com/dodge...out-the-west-coast-in-free-agency/2022/05/06/
My kid told me he saw a photo with Jansen raising his arm up like pitcher's do when it's popped up...so he saw it, and reacted as I guess anyone would. That said, it was exactly what we needed at precisely the perfect time. For once, it happened for the Dodgers, not against them.
Not extending the guy then, imo, would be as fucked up a non move as they've ever not done...or done. And they would have saved money extending him, rather than dealing with his free agent asking price, too.
I wonder if the Bauer situation plays into it. If his suspension is upheld and we are free from paying him, there's 0 excuse we don't use that money on Trea.
I had a lot of fun just searching Jansen's name after the game last night and seeing a lot of negative tweets from Braves fans about him. Starting to think there is no winner in the Kimbrel/Jansen arguments. Braves/Dodgers could both do a lot better.
