There are a lot of "what if's" with this franchise in the last couple of decades that make things even more frustrating in hindsight. Had we had good ownership and management, we would have had a Yankees West dynasty with not only those greats, but the players that came and stayed along the way. Remember that one of the biggest problems with the J5 centered teams was the lack of a quality 3B. Casey Blake was fine, but one can only imagine what having Beltre AND Carlos Santana would have done for us. For a major market franchise, we have lost far too much top level talent. That talent should never walk and I really hope that with the new ownership, that they get that. Like you also mentioned, there are guys we drafted that we never signed(or McCourt tied our hands) that could have changed the game too in Utley, Goldschmidt and Price off the top of my head. It kind of puts things in a bit more perspective with the new ownership and FO. We blame them for the last few years of shortfalls, but they are a far better run machine than what we have seen with this franchise probably since at least the 50's and 60's. Now that the kids are starting to get closer to FA, it is going to be interesting to see how our management handles them.
Lima Time was one of my favorite Dodger short timers. We had field level seats down the left field line on a Sunday afternoon. Got to the game plenty early, but couldn't get to our seats. There was a line almost the entire length of the aisle going down the railing along the field. It was a line of people taking pictures and get autographs from Lima. Asked the usher if it was a promotion or something. He said no. Lima did that every Sunday. He seemed to embrace the struggle of getting to and staying in the big leagues. Lima Time was much too short on this earth (37 yrs).
If you have a sombrero.......(you fuckers know the rest). First out strike three to Coleman wasn't even close. Fuck him for thinking he was going to bunt.
Certainly not old clips but this was one of the funnest stretches of Dodgers baseball in my life. The energy around the team was off the charts and they felt unbeatable.
