Fangraphs.com lists Kemp's worth at 2.2 wins above a replacement-level player so far this year -- an absurd sum, one that projects to a value of nearly 19 wins over a full season. http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/n...0426&content_id=29756166&vkey=news_la&c_id=la

Everyone is for building a good farm. But you can't compromise the present for the uncertain future. It's been 23 years. Far too long. Go out and win. Not to mention, aside from Lee and a couple other guys, there is nothing overwhelmingly great to hang onto. Dee was a guy we should have shipped for Halladay (at face value. idk about his desire to play on the East coast, nor the $, nor the Jays situation). A healthy Wright would be amazing. The Mets are going to let Wright walk after the season. The question becomes if the Mets will take less knowing it is better than nothing, or will we wait for FA regardless (if we are even interested). just an ex
Don't think this is a championship team, nor trading what farm we have left this season will get us anything that puts us over. I like Wright, but I don't think he'll be worth what he will command after a good contract year season. Do we really want to be saddled with that in years 35-37 @ probably 18-21 per?
I really really don't want Wright. But if a good opportunity presents itself for a player who makes sense then you go for it.
He's been steadily declining, he's a bad defensive 3B, and he reportedly wants the Zimmerman contract (6 years 100) when he's not nearly as good as Zimmerman. I'd rather have Headley, he'll cost less (spects and money)
I believe there's a 2013 option on Wright's contract for $16 million? So we could trade for him, pay the $16 million, and wait to decide on a contract extension.
I agree that he is terrible defensively and has slowly been declining since 08-09ish, but how much of that decline do you think is due to where he plays? I wasn't aware that he was seeking upwards of 16 mil per, that's a bit much for him at this point. Also, I would love Headley for the same reasons, but I don't know if SD would be willing to trade him to us.
Could be because of CitiField, but I wouldn't be willing to bet a few top prospects and 100 mill on it. And yeah that'd be the problem with Headley. I'd think as bad as they are they need to hold onto some decent players, too.
I doubt Wright would get 100 mill; or at least he won't from us. I say we give him a shot but on our terms. Whoever pays him 100 mill is more retarded than the Nationals/Werthless and Tigers/Fielder.
