Sweet. We obviously don't know how he'll perform in the majors, but it seems like he'll be a solid 3-4 in the rotation. It's suddenly looking a lot more solid after the Kazmir and Maeda signings
REPORT: Dodgers to sign Japanese right-hander Kenta Maeda By D.J. Short | NBC Sports Hardball Talk — 1 minute ago One day after adding left-hander Scott Kazmir to their rotation, the Dodgers have signed Japanese right-hander Kenta Meada, according to Christopher Meola on Twitter. CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman has confirmed the report. More to come.
Dodgers to sign Kenta Maeda by Jeff Todd | MLB Trade Rumors — 10 minutes ago The Dodgers have reached agreement on a deal with Japanese righty Kenta Maeda, Christopher Meola reports on Twitter. Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com has confirmed the signing via Twitter. Financial terms have yet to be reported, but Maeda was posted with a release fee at the $20MM maximum. That means that Los Angeles will stand to owe that amount up front to the Hiroshima Carp, in addition to the terms agreed upon with the soon-to-be 28-year-old.
The Dodgers still wouldn't have a guy who is an ace playing the role of #2 but maybe it's just different to have like 5-6 guys who are typical #3/#4's who you hope have at least one step up as a #2 Anyways, eager to see the details and now use prospects to get a reliever
Remember even though Nomo was an accomplished pitcher in Japan he was still an unknown to these Major leagues. Ryu was in the same boat and he has been real good for us.
Not sure that they are all #3/4 types. I'd say Kaz is a low end #2, but solid for that position. Last year, we were great 1-2, with a big drop off from 3-5. Going into this season, we are GREAT #1-5, with great depth after that. Having Ryu slot as the #4 is amazing.
NEIFI Analytics @NEIFIco 7m7 minutes agoFlorida, USA #Maeda projection via NEIFI: 3.64, 197 IP, 3.55 WAR. #Dodgers eclipse 100 projected wins. Christopher meola @DfineNrmLC 8m8 minutes ago @JonHeymanCBS @MLBONFOX @JimBowden_ESPN So here's the first piece of the puzzle on this contract Maedas deal is for 8yrs. Money next! ------------- What?
Are you literally trying to get me riled up lol. Same boat meaning coming from a league in a foreign country to the majors here. Happy!! LOL
Can't wait for the contract details!! But I'm definitely excited about this right now!!! We have a ton of depth in our rotation. We won't have a bonafide #2 stopper but we'll have a good chance to win every night. Like we've been saying the Dodgers were gonna do something! Now get a legit back end reliever and we're really rolling!
